HELP =)
So last night was our 3rd night together and everything has been going great with no accidents. But last night she pooped in her crate =( ugh.

It happened around 3am and it could've been a combination of things that caused it but I wanted to get any advice to make sure I do all I can to prevent it again and make sure she doesn't think it's OK.

I've been sleeping next to her crate so that I can hear her whine if she wakes up and needs to go out, this worked great the first 2 nights. I also set an alarm every 2 hours but I've also noticed her whining sometimes wakes me up BEFORE my alarm goes off. then I take her out. So maybe I should set my alarm for 1-1/2 hours to try to prevent it.
Another thing, I have her crate partitioned off with the divider so that she doesn't have a lot of room (but enough room) so she won't soil where she sleeps, but the crate is wide enough to where she could sleep on either side (left or right), and sometimes will switch sides during the night so maybe she thinks that it's ok with all that extra room? If that's the case should I try to put something else in the crate to fill the extra space?

2nd topic- She's been getting more adventurous and last night she learned to jump on the couch. It was super cute btw, she'll run at the couch and jump and be hanging there with her claws like a rock climber then work her way up haha. Obviously I don't want her to think it's ok and I give her a firm "NO" and place her on the ground. But now that she knows she can make it up there I feel like she is proud of herself and wants to keep doing it lol. If she is biting the rug or something she shouldn't I can give her a toy or ignore her and that seems to help. But if I ignore her when she tries to jump on the couch she'll just keep trying to jump up. Do I just keep saying NO and putting her back on the ground? This worked last night but she tried a handful of times. Also, one time I told her NO, she went and laid down in her crate and I was wondering if that's something normal or if I should be worried. So far everything with her crate has been positive (food, treats, praise etc) and she'll sleep in there just fine and I just want to make sure it remains positive.

Thanks for any advice, I want to catch everything as early as possible.

The pooping in the crate is the WORST specially since the puppy stool is so soft and nasty it gets everywhere honestly I think it has something to do with her being nervous and anxious so try putting something of yours in her crate, but until she gets used to the crate it may happen again. Or you could always try treats from petsmart that are soothing as long as they are okay for puppies.

Jaime,
She's probably getting used to the switching of her food. If you don't have this already stock up on can pure pumpkin, helps with loose stools as well as too hard, just make sure it's pure and not pie filling. The transition may take a little while. Also you might want to limit heavy meals in the evening. Rachel gave some good advice as well. Remember to give her a ton of praise when she goes outside to potty, I still tell Miya good girl when she potties, although I don't need too.

Topic 2 I'm better at, welcome to huskydom, lol, she is challenging you, testing you to see what you will let her get away with. Some useful tips that work for us, with the no give secondary command, otherwise you're saying no to everything. Examples jumping on couch, "No that's mine" touch couch when saying this and have her see you and hear you, arguing with you "No enough", "No drop it" when chewing on something, "No leave it" when too curious, after awhile you can drop the no and just use "drop it", "leave it", etc. Using her name with these commands will help with her name recognition, and quite frankly huskies are so stubborn that if you don't use their name prior to a command they think you are talking to someone else, I'm serious, very funny when it's just the 2 of you but necessary. Her going to her crate means that that's her safe spot, she's comfy there, and the typical husky thing to do when told no is to pout, haha. Yup she's a husky, now the fun begins.

Renee

Btw, maybe every 1.5 hours for a couple of days until she is more used to food and new routine.

Rachel, thanks for the suggestion, I have a shirt I could out in there that I don't care if she decides to chew up so I'll try that.

Renee, thanks again for more tips. I did give her a meal a little later than usual last night because I could tell she was hungry. I'll try the pumpkin too. I definitely praise her a lot when she goes potty outside in her spot, in time she'll figure it out.

Well I'm a pretty competitive person so bring it on Aurora! Lol. Well I feel a little better about that now that I know that's just her being a husky haha. I'll start using a secondary command with the No as well.

Well, let the husky puppy training begin. The more comfortable she gets the more she's gonna test me, good times. Then she's so sweet and cuddly when she's tired lol it's like she flips a switch.

Thanks again!

Forgot to mention with pumpkin try maybe a tablespoon(you can freeze it, if you have a freezer so you don't waste any of it), and see what foods work with her. I can not give Miya duck, it's too rich and goes through her. Every husky is different even with pumpkin, so it's trial and error.

Honestly, I thought Miya and I would never agree, but now that she's older she truly is a great dog. So smart, funny and loving. My neighbors have a male husky a year older than Miya and he was great as a puppy and a terror now, just the opposite of Miya. I'd rather have a terrible demon puppy than what they have any day of the week.

Nala is the same way so sweet one second and the next she's a brat! They ate the best of friends though I'd say she's my only friend :p

Btw: love her name! Very pretty can't wait to get a second one so I can find an awesome new name!

I miss the puppy days the good ole' days

thanks for the extra info on the pumpkin! and haha yeah I'd rather have her be a little terror puppy and a better adult. Besides, that's basically what I expect from puppies =) they won't know if something is wrong unless they try it and find out lol.

Rachel- I love her name too, and it's extra fitting being up here in Alaska. I thought a little bit about what I wanted to name her and when I thought of it, I instantly knew. I agree, the puppy days are great! so fun even though they are such a pain. Enjoying every second I can!

btw, last night was much better with no accidents. I woke up every 1 1/2 hours to take her out. I think one time she woke me up maybe 45-60 min later so I took her out. I probably could've waited it out to see if she went back to sleep but I didn't want to take the chance yet.

Being in Alaska is probably awesome and she probably loves it! The winters here in Michigan are pretty brutal so Nala loves them!!

Wow, are her eyes really that dark? Such a deep sapphire blue, most huskies have more of an ice blue. You got to start a scrapbook of Aurora. First one looks like "No I'm not done here" second one "Poo it's raining, I'm going to get wet" hehe Thanks for sharing.

Yeah they are a little darker than "normal" right now but I hear they will lighten up to the more ice blue as she gets older. Yeah I just saw all the scrapbooks, I'll have to start one for sure!

Rachel, I really love her colors/mask too, we'll see how it changes as she gets older
