| 500 tries and I finally managed to register..... haha Anyway, hi! I'm from Ireland. I'm about to get my first sibe this Sunday!!! It's a grey and white 3-month old male. I've loved animals since I was a baby and have always wanted a Husky, when I was 3 years old I saw the movie Balto and became fascinated by the true story, since then one of my biggest dreams in life was to become a musher and run the Iditarod(one day I will!), so since then most of my free time was spent researching the breeds, training, all that stuff, and finally I'll be able to put it to practice I have a fixed route I came up with which involves going around the perimeter of my town, which is a total of around 9km-- 37 minutes on a bike, 106 minutes walk. This will be our main route with the dog as I'd love to get him started with bikejoring one day. it will be our morning route at 5 am... because the weather here is unpredictable so you don't know if it will be hot or not(heh, that's Ireland) and because I love getting up early and doing stuff with the pets. I have done my research, I know what to expect, and I'm ready and up for the challenge. Almost everyone who heard that I'm getting a Husky was straight away, without any thought, saying, 'no don't get a husky, they're too independent and you can't train them at all and you need to exercise them a lot and they howl too much get a Labrador or a Beagle' the only person who didn't say that was my aunt's dog trainer. he trains house dogs and police/army dogs and is a really good trainer, but he doesn't have a lot of experience with sledding breeds which he admitted and I think that's great that he did, and he wished me a genuine good luck and gave me whatever advice he could. so I have to say I'm pretty excited! We have one other dog, Mindy, a JRT/Corgi mix who's 13yo, she'll be pretty jealous at first lol I'm also keeping scrapbooks of my pets(two guinea pigs, a frog and Mindy the dog) and I'll be starting a blog for the Husky as an 'online scrapbook' - thehuskyway.blogspot.com I'm still working on a layout, but all our photos and training/bonding progress will be there! woow I wrote a lot... sorries <:

| welcome! I just got my first Husky puppy last friday so we can all learn together haha. That'd be awesome to run the iditarod, its a great race and it's amazing that the dogs can do that and they love it so much, its so cool. I'm in Alaska so I've seen parts of it before but I don't think I'll ever race it myself, but good luck to you when the day comes! |

| Thanks! <: Yeah, the Iditarod is my dream I've also wanted to live in Alaska for as long as I remember because it's a great place to view stars(and the Northern Lights) and I have a 'small' obsession with astronomy ;P |

Wishing you luck !! :DD Awesome! Whereabouts in Ireland are you? <: Your Kai is gorgeous, I love his eyes! So unusual I don't have a name for him yet, but I'm trying to come up with some names, I'll have to spend some time with him before I can fully decide (; but my top 3 right now are Rocket, Balto and Betelgeuse(pronounced Bettelgoose, because I prefer that pronunciation lol) Yeah!! I'd love to be an astrophysicist one day ! (: Thank you! |

| Howdy!
Gah I feel like everyone is getting their puppies sooner then me. I have to wait till the 14th. But yeah when I was a kid I was in love with huskies and actually forgot about my love of the breed when I got older until I was looking for the perfect dog to take in and it all hit me with a flash "Oh! Huskies! I love those!"
One day I would like to race too, it burns like a hidden flame in my heart but I don't think that will happen for a while. LOL I like that you have your route planned for walks and such, I am trying to do the same thing around here but since I moved its hard to know the safe paths, but me any my pup will figure it out, it will be an adventure!
Anyway I have babbled enough, welcome to the form and good luck to all us new puppy owners. |

| Haha, honestly I feel like that too because I'm just so impatient until Sunday :p I'm sure you guys will figure it out! <: Our routes aren't really the safest either unfortunately because everyday the drunk teenagers pick a different spot to 'party' in so we'll have to be careful! Thank you! |

| Hi and welcome to the forums! I bet you're really excited and nervous about getting a Husky, but trust me when I say that they're loads of fun! The only advice I would offer is to actually start out with not too much exercise at first, maybe only 15-20 minutes several times a day to start off. Then you can eventually build up to 9+ kilometers when he's a bit older. Also it's always nice to see another space geek on here. I want to be an Aerospace Engineer myself and am fascinated with space exploration, adventure is out there! (Or something like that. ) |
