| Welcome to the forum. The best thing you can do is look on the bag for feeding recommendations. There are other things that get involved with feeding, she may be more active than most pups. Is she up to date with dewormers and is her poo at a good consistency? What does your vet think, is she at a good weight for her age, etc.? |

| Ya she is up to date on everything and he no worms. Her stool is loose sometimes runny. The vet said give her 1/2 cup 3 times a day. The bag of food say says to give her 1 cup to 1 3/4 cup a day |

| At her age, it wouldn't hurt to feed 1 cup three times per day, unless the increased amount impacts her negatively. _________________ |

| Indigo is 5.5 months old and Loves to eat. She would eat non stop if I let her. I mix the Wysong puppy Kibble with some of the wet asa topper...(rabbit, quit, venison) 2 times a day and of corse there are treats of string cheese and chemical free hot dogs....I am afraid she is getting too much but she is all muscle and weight 33.5 pounds. Should I be giving her more? |

| Riley is almost 4 months old and we are on 2 cups a day spread out over 3 meals. This is slightly more than the recommended amount. We are feeding her Acana food.
She would eat more if we gave it to her.
I think your on the right track. |

| Clydisvillage - your post got lost in that thread, sorry. It's always best to start a new thread, even if it's on a similar topic (unless, of course, you're responding to someones note in the thread).
I think you'll find that the best gauge to the amount of food is what comes out the other end. If it's tight then you're on the right track. If it's loose (sloppy, runny) then given that she's in good health you're probably feeding too much.
Assume in almost all cases that what's on the bag is at least 25% too much, Husky's have an amazing metabolism and seldom need as much as other dogs.
If Indigo is on good health and her stool is not loose then I think you can assume you're doing a good job. Most Husky's, like most older breeds, will eat whatever, whenever to store it up for the lean times, then we come along and give them too much and their bodies have to do something with it .... _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |
