So Maya our previous foster and who is staying with us while her mom is in Rome tried to give us a heart attack today. So we got up and I took all 3 dogs over to my mom's ( she has a much bigger backyard with trees and such to run around and play in) They have all been over there tons of times and I figured they could burn off some steam before the parade. Parade time we put Maya in a kennel and leave Sadie and home deciding that with the level of training we are at that one dog would be the best and take Simon because puppy socialization. Come home let Maya out of her kennel she got some water and walked past me and I found this. Big gaping bloody skin less hole. In a slight panic went to the emergency vet. She said it looked like she ran into/ impaled her self on a stick or something and licked it and made it open up more and worse. She had to be put under have the area shaved and stitched up. We now have her on antibiotics and pain meds and she is stuck in a cone till the stitches come out in 14 days. I will get "after" pictures but she is sleeping and I don't want to make her move. Happy she is home and doing well but that is a little more stress than I planned for today.

Oh, no, how awful! Glad she's all stitched up and recovering well. Who'd have thought something like that could happen?

Oh no! Glad you noticed and got her to the vet. I wonder what caused it? Sometimes the most random things can cause accidents- you certainly can't protect them from everything (although I know we all wish we could just have them in a bubble...lol).

Day two. She was a little lethargic this morning and slept till around noon (boyfriend got to stay home with her) now I get home at 6pm and she is hitting me in the legs with the cone. Now I have the fight to keep the husky from messing up her stitches.

Oohhh that cone;... Journey was in it for about a month. She never seemed to care that her cone would ram into my legs. OUCH OUCH OUCH... I was as over it as she was.
