My girlfriend and I have just adopted a 7 1/2 year old Husky named Niko.
We've had him just over 3 weeks and he's an absolute beauty. Very affectionate, with a cheeky side (which I guess is quite common).

We were told he has a very sensitive stomach and is currently on vet prescribed food. We're currently trying to ween him onto some other sensitive shop bought food to see how he gets on. Fingers crossed!

We did do lots of research before we brought him home, but I'm hoping to talk with like-minded and experienced Husky owners, and this looked like a great place for it.

Welcome to the Forum! Shadow had a very sensitive stomach when he was a puppy and my boyfriend and I came to realize that anything with grain will affect his stomach. So, we had to slowly transition him to Blue Wilderness Grain-Free dry dog food. He hasn't had any problems since then. I recommend that dog food. I hope that helps or gives you and your girlfriend an idea.   Congratulations on the new addition to your family!!!   

Welcome! Nala was the same way she doesn't seem to be so bad anymore though, but good luck and I hope for the best cant wait to see more pictures of him! We give Nala IAMS lamb and rice meal and her stomach seems to tolerate it well!

He had an upset stomach within the first few days of having him. He hadn't eaten for the first two days, so we tried him with a small piece of chicken mixed with his biscuits, and learned that night just how sensitive he is, bless him. Luckily, he has been house trained by his previous owners and went downstairs in front of the door to do his business (which he wouldn't have been able to hold 'till the morning). He's been fine ever since.

We were expecting a list of possible issues that commonly come with rescue dogs (and were more than willing to help him with anything we could), but he's very well behaved, considering his past.

We've just been made aware of a Husky rescue and research center 30 minutes from us. I'm itching to get him up there and get him socialising with other dogs. Apparently they also have a safe area for letting them off the lead and giving them chance to burn off some energy.

The rescue/research center sounds amazing! You're so lucky to have that. If you can, make sure to take lots of pictures of him running around with his friends there.

I think it's normal when a dog moves to a new home that they will have some tummy issues as they adjust to the new people and new environment. It's the same with puppies. But since you know he does have a sensitive stomach, it may take some doing to find the right food for him.

Very true.
These past few days he's been eating lots of grass and bringing it straight back up. His stomach has also been gargling quite a bit!
He seems fine in himself, and his stool is still ok, so I'm hoping it's just a short adjustment phase with this new food.
