Haha- they're doing just fine. She'll get used to him. There's going to be a lot of that at the beginning. Letting them figure it out on their own is the way to go

The first week after I brought Willow home Dakota acted like he didn't know what to do with her either. I was surprised becuase he always wants to play with every dog in sight! she kept trying to snuggle with him and he would slowly get up an walk away and lay down somewhere else. It worried me a little. After a week, though, he finally decided he could play with her and they havn't stopped since. She still tries to snuggle with him and he acts like he is humoring her. =-).

How old is Dakota? So he ignored her too....that makes me feel better. Mya will be 5 in March and it seems like shes over the playing stage (at least with him) but before we brought him home she always wanted to play with me...all the time! They'll get along eventually like your babies did =)

Dakota is 10 this month! He is a very active 10 year old. I know it seems crazy to get a playmate for him at 10 but he always wants to interact with every dog he sees. He has neighboring dogs that always come say hi to him on their walks. When we are inside the house, he would stare out our living room window and whine when he would see a dog go by. That's why I finally broke down and got a second dog. I was very surprised with how aloof he was with Willow. He acted like he didn't even know she was a dog and he didn't know how to handle her. It was weird! But like I said, about after a week, he just decided that she was ok and started playing with her. She woudl try from the very beginning but he would always walk away from her until the day he didn't. ...

That's awesome...and he really is a very handsome 10 year old! Looks like he's 7! All the advise that everybody is giving me is really making me feel a lot more at ease. Especially in your case that they're so many years apart. I thought Mya was too old for him and that's part of why she's acting this way, but I'm probably wrong.
Koda (whats your name by the way? hate calling you your doggies name...lol) how old are Hailey and Koda?

My name is Tori
Koda is 3 years old- he was about 2.5 when we got Hailey. Hailey, we're unsure. She's somewhere between 3 & 5 years old. We estimate she's about the same age as Koda though.

So, Mya seems to be doing better with Kody today and played with him for like 10min. I grabbed the camera towards the end, but she ran around with him before this.
