| Ghost had runny poop for a few days so we took him to the vet to get probiotic cookies, the vet decided to put him on Stomorgyl (don't know if that was wise but...) and gave him the cookies. It's been a week of Stomorgyl and he had some ups and downs on the poo matter, yesterday he had a bit of liquid in his feces (but then again, he had tried to eat a bar o handsoap, i cought him on time) today the poo is well formed but not hard (I heard that puppies poo is kinda soft, is that true?) and no liquids at all.
But today he vomited 2 times, a very light greenish vomit with nothing in it. I feed him and he tried to destroy the house as usual, and now he is sleeping next to me.
Is this vomiting normal or should I be worried? A quick research told me that puppies sometimes do that when they're on an empty stomach (wich was the case, I woke up late) |

| How long have you had him? What was he eating at his breeders, and what is he eating now? Worming schedule? Vaccination schedule? Public outings/socialization with dogs outside (or inside) your home? |

| He's eating Premier (Super Premium) now, he was eating Cibau at the breeder. Worming and vaccination are all okay, no public socialization, he will stay at home till he got all his shots. He had only one visit of my cousins puppy but she's vaccinated and he had runny poo before she came to visit. Earlier today his feces were well formed, mushy but well formed, don't really know the right texture for puppy poo. But now, after eating, it went back to runny and not really well formed poo. Also caught him chewing on some plants of the backyard ealier, might explain the greenish tone on the vomit, but doesn't explain the vomit itself (unless it was empty stomach vomit) I'm worried about the runny poo, he's been on Stomorgyl for a week now and no real improvement, it gets a little better then it gets worse. Breeder said I should try Diarreton, anyone tried that? Vet asked to bring him back for blood and feces test, but I'm not sure about that vet, she just packed the Stomorgyl on the first visit, didn't even considered a food-transition diarrheia. Should I try rice and hamburger? Yoghurt? Finish the Stomorgyl (antibiotics, can't stop) and see how it goes? Look for another vet? |

| Oh, food brands might sound strange to you guys, I'm from Brazil, I don't think we have the same brands. |

| Could it be overfeeding? I'm giving him 1 cup (~110g) 2x/day, is that too much? |

| Worms are a very common source of loose stool in puppies, so I would definitely do a fecal exam. Puppies should be wormed every 2 weeks at the breeders and continue at the same time as their puppy boosters once in their new home. Metronidazole (Stomorgryl) is very common to give with persistent diarrhea so I don't feel that was an inappropriate solution to a persistence issue.
Over feeding is a distinct possibility, also another highly common source of loose bowels. Puppies need to be fed 3-4 small meals throughout the day, vs one large meal. Feeding one large meal can cause upset tummy. Without knowing the exact protein/fat content and amount of food you are feeding it's hard to really pin point that one via internet.
Also very common loose stool cause- switching foods too quickly. Food transitions, especially if there is a large jump in quality of food from one to another, should happen gradually over a period of 14 days.
Other sources to consider; food allergies, stress, other illnesses all can present in GI upset.
Switching to a bland diet (rice and chicken) for a couple of feedings may help level him out...if not I'd suggest starting with your vet with the fecal and go from there. |

| I got him from a good breeder, he's wormed, next dose is in 2 days, I reeally don't think it's worms, but i'll do the fecal test. I will also adjust his food and see how he responds on that. And yes, there was a quick switch on food, I think that's the big problem, breeder sent us a pack of what he was getting there but it got lost in the airport. |

| If he's actively on a wormer right now that can be a reason why you have soft stool. |
