Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| So it looks like this is the new, best place for husky owners. I used to post on The Husky Forum, but then the board died off. I remember some of the old members starting a HuskyHijinx board, but I think that fell off too. I joined a board that seems to be based in the UK, and the format drives me nuts. So here I am! For any of the old Husky Forum people, maybe this will help you refresh your memory of me: This is Paw Paw now: I was hoping to enter that photo into your HOTM category, but I see I need 100 posts first. I might never get 100 posts, as I try to spend my time with my dogs instead of being on the internet. O well. Haha. What other old members from The Husky Forum are on here? It will be good to reconnect with all of you. Kevin |

It's still around, but no one is really using it anymore: http://huskylove.proboards.com/index.cgi Anyways, here's some Beowulf pics just for you: We had a cord of firewood delivered and they threw it over the fence. Beowulf climbed to the top and was peering over. Silly wulfers! |

| Good to see you here, Kevin! I think my name on THF was the same: Koda? Or maybe I was tmeyer or Tori? I don't honestly remember! But when I knew you, I only had Koda. We got Hailey is February 2010. You and I did speak at length about Tamaskans, I think. We both were looking into them at some point, so maybe you'll remember me from there? It's great to see you! I'm glad you found your way here! We started this forum in May 2009 and while we were slow to start, we sort of exploded! And you'll get to 100 posts way quicker than you think ETA: Here I am! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Hey guys! Whatever happened to Becca and her husky Charger? I remember liking them (and all of you too) a lot. Is she on this board? I'll have to go back and do some research. I remember having some close e-friends from THF. Wonder how many of them are on here. I can't believe I didn't find this board until now. Actually, my SN "counter" was already registered, so maybe I was here once and saw that there wasn't much traffic, and left. Can you check to see if counter was registered to me, or someone else. I tried the password recovery thing, but couldn't remember which email I used. I tried them all and none worked. Weird. |

| I'll check Becca never came over here. I'm not sure why She had created her forum around the same time. For a while, The Siberian Husky Forum was bigger than here, but then at some point, we picked up speed and that forum dropped off. Chad (...YouKnowWho), Linzi (Huskylove) and I started this one. Linzi left and Chad still pops by, but I'm the sole owner of the forum and the only founder still active. Eddie (harrise) was here for a while, but stepped down as Admin and I pulled Chris (Tika). He was never on THF though We do have a few! Heather is here, so is Tiffany, and several others _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Not trying to go all Tom McCall on you, (He's the former governor of Oregon who said "Come to visit, but don't come here to live"), but Oregon takes some getting used to.
We have glorious summers that start about July 4th and go through mid October. Little rain, no humidity, and probably two or three spells of over 90 degree temps.
Then the rain starts. And it's pretty much nonstop dark, gray and wet until June. It doesn't bother me, because I ski. When it's raining in the valley, it's usually snowing on Mt. Hood.
This winter we haven't had much snow or rain. It's all going over the top of us and back east. But it has started to pick up in the last couple weeks.
I used to walk with another husky owner who moved here from Louisiana in the summer. She thought she was in heaven. Then in February, she told me that she couldn't take it anymore. The darkness really got her down. They moved to Phoenix after two years.
We do have great coffee, beer and food carts. Portlandia is over the top, but there is some truth there too. |

| What I love most about Portland is that it is a city that is a giant, constant celebration of food and drink and specialty consumables. The service industry in Portland is enormous and thriving and vibrant and amazing. Which is why it is known as the city where "people in their 20's go to retire." I went to a health food grocery store to buy some cheese for dinner once, and this gorgeous lady I'd say in her mid to late 40's, covered in tattoos, gave me the most amazing demonstration and discussion about cheese and I walked away feeling like I learned something and I was all sentimental. It's a city where folks do what they love and love what they do. |

Everyone always poo-poos my wanting to move to Portland I'm going to check it out for myself. Although I'm going in July when the perfect weather starts so I'll have to keep in mind that it's not the norm. There are months and months of darkness here in Chicago as well. I'm very much used to it, and I found that taking Vitamin D really helps fight off the SAD. I think I'll take constant rain over months of bitter cold and snow. - seattlesibe wrote:
