| I can't believe my good luck today...on our walk this morning I came across this dog house. Free for the taking. I've been admiring this house almost since we adopted Ami. It has dark brown, wide clapboard siding with a dark green metal roof reminiscent of an Adirondack Cottage. At first I thought it meant the dog of the house had died, but no, just getting older, never used the house and the dog yard was being repurposed into horse pasture (lovely little yearling filly there, now!) We have the Dog Mahal in the western lawn but I don't like to leave him there when we're not home as he is visible from the road there. The portable, plastic thing I got for the back yard he never uses - I think he just gets too hot. This one was beside the road with a big FREE sign on it, he went right in, explored every nook and cranny and I had to drag him out to tell the owners we would take it. Called my son and his fiance, dragged them out of the house early on a Sunday, she has a truck and the owner loaded it with his tractor loader. Dragged husband out of bed...somehow managed to get it up under the pines. I am a very happy Mama today. |

Yes - it was really funny. While setting in place and leveling, we had to tether him at the far end of his trolley to keep him out of the way, it was so much like he was excited about his new "home". Later in the day, I threw his ball towards the new house, he went running "100 mph" and instead of grabbing the ball as he usually does, he literally leaped into the house, turned around and just stood grinning in the doorway The other thing that was really funny - about 2 months ago, husband bought Mr. Dog a fabric frisbee and has been trying to get Ami interested. Complete No GO for the frisbee. This house had a plastic frisbee in it - while cleaning out the house, I tossed it out of the way. Mr. Dog goes nuts over it - loves the frisbee. Go figure |
