We're having sort of similar problems - when my hubby first put our tree up, our dog went straight over to it and tried to lift his leg to mark it... We've just been body blocking him and redirecting his attention when he goes for it. It's been working fabulously so far - no issues since.

I would either gate it or restrict his access to the room. If you have some time while you are home with him, sit in the room with the tree. When he goes near it to put his mouth on it, leash him quick and bring him out of the room. When he's calm and okay, let him back in. Repeat. Do this several times and he should get the hint "When I go near the tree, mom locks me out of the room." Regardless, I would baby gate off the room and NEVER let him have access to it unsupervised. There are lots of things on a Christmas tree that can kill any dog. Good luck! And welcome to the forum _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand.

unfortunately our issue with the tree isn't the dogs, it's the stupid cat. he's knocked every ornament off the tree, resulting in the dogs chewing and breaking them all ours is artificial so the cat also knocked half the branches off, and the star's hanging off the top.

I've never had any issues with the dogs and the tree. This will be our first year with Ranger and a tree so we shall see how that goes if I ever get around to putting one up. When our cats were younger and less lazy we used to have the problem of them knocking the ornaments off. So I hot glued the tops on all of the glass ornaments so they couldn't pull them apart and then off and all the ornaments have the metal hooks and I just wrap them twice around the branches rather than just hanging them.

So ours didn't care till yesterday UGH ornaments where chewed up and silver tassel was torn to shred's in a matter of seconds. One thing kinda cute though is that Roxy likes to ball up under the tree like a lil present

That's what I'm sayin'. Koda has no interest whatsoever in the tree! When we put it up the first year we had him, he was 8 months, I was so worried he'd go crazy.. it was a great surprise to learn he didn't care! |

Mya doesn't care for the tree either, but Kody seems to like to run around it. Mind you it's not like it's very fall from the wall behind it, but he's little so he fits. He also pulled a branch or 2 off, but it's not too bad so far. If he knocks my pretty tree over I'm going to very upset..lol

Well we got our tree on Sat, let them hang out sat night with it and on sunday, put everything on it last night and all seems ok while we are home. i took them for the morning walk and when we came back in the house jack walked over to the tree lifted his leg and with out thinking i smacked his butt yelled NO and he looked up at me all confused! i felt so bad but thank god he was peed out from our walk and he did not mark the tree. _________________

Thankfully Siku doesn't mess with our tree. There was one ornament that she thought was really cool, but after the first couple trys of getting it and us yelling at her, she stopped. We don't leave her alone with the tree though. One of my cats thought trees tasted yummy last year and would chew the bottom branches. He'd eat so much he'd throw up every time. I think he finally learned his lesson and hasn't touched this tree yet, thankfully.
