So I was curious if any of you have had a dog with these? Shaqua has two The vet has said it doesn't need to be removed other than for cosmetic reasons as long as it doesn't get infected (and it doesn't) but it's just icky. It will fester, like a pimple, and eventually burst while Shaqua is playing with Journey or when she bumps into something. I then, of course, clean it up (this white puss-like stuff and a little blood will come out) and then it shrinks until it festers up again and the whole process repeats.

I've heard of a few home remedies (e.g. warm compresses or coconut oil???) but I'm curious if anyone has tried anything that has worked for them.

Like I said, she has been seen by a vet, deemed not dangerous, and I really would not like to put her under at 12 years of age for something so silly. Just looking for something that might be able to help reduce them.

My mom had a yorkie that would get them. She would have the big ones removed because she didn't like him having these big open sores. He got some that were the size of your thumb and on a 10 lbs dog that is pretty huge. He also got a few that were more like human pimple sized and those we took care of as needed but if we had to knock him out for something else and any of them were causing issues we would have them removed.

I agree if you don't have to put her under don't. But if you have to put her under for something else and any are bothering her have them take care of them as well.

Other than that just keep them clean when they burst. We would clean them with hydrogen peroxide and then we used an antibiotic cream to keep them clean of infection. They don't really go away unless they are removed.

Yeah, hers are fairly small, just gross when they do "pop". One is right above her eye too, so she isn't too happy when I have to go clean it up.

I figured they were just "old wives tales" of some sort that you could rid them with certain topical treatments but no harm in asking.
