| So I figured I would just leave a large bowl of water out for her all day, but this does not seem to be a good thing for the potty training process. I will take her out to do her business, and after coming back in she's peed anywhere from 2-5 times in the following 30 min. I'm trying to teach her to use pad for now, but not sure if that's a good idea either. All I know is that she sometimes can have 5 accident within an hr after going out ! Is this just a puppy thing or should I be slightly restricting water intake.
Also any tips on potty training? I praised her with treats anytime she goes out, but anytime I witness an accident I tell her no or ackk, and take her directly to the puppy pad
I also want to start cage training her, but I know she has at least one accident per night even taking her out before bed and middle of the night. Would hate to keep her in the cage where she would have an accident mid night and have to sleep in it! Any tips ??!!???
Thanks in advance

| From my experience young puppies generally have to pee 10-15 minutes after getting a drink of water, so that's normal. Eight and Nine week old puppies can hold it for about 1-1.5 hours max when awake and about 3-4 hours when sleeping iirc. Also if they're playing then all bets are off as they'll probably just pee every 20-ish minutes or so no matter what. In other words, you're going to have to go out for potty breaks a lot and you'll probably have to wake up twice in the middle of the night as well. I wouldn't train her on puppy pads, the only thing that will do is teach her that peeing inside is okay. Instead I would just keep on doing what you're doing, accidents will happen a lot with any puppy until they can control their bladders better. Although they will generally try to hold it for as long as they can in their sleeping area, so as long as you take her out several times every night then you shouldn't have to worry about a crate accident. When Yukon was a smaller puppy I generally let him have as much water as he wanted during the day, but took it away 2-ish hours before bedtime. That way there would be an even greater chance of me waking up to find him not wetting the bed. (Yes, I let my dog sleep in my bed. Surprisingly enough though I can count the number of bed-accidents he's had on one hand; and most of them happened because I either used the bathroom first or slept past the alarm.) Good luck!

| Thank you for the advice, I was lenient on the pads. Only reason I was using them for now is because there are times during the day where nobody is home 3 hrs and I know she can't hold it that long yet |
