| Haven't been on in awhile but wanted to post that on Sunday 4/13 it has been 1 year since I adopted Kodiak! When I got him he was dirty, smelly and underweight. He would cower when you went to pet him, and got into several fights with Nikko and Kodiak. Slowly he has been building up his confidence and now he is a healthy 60lbs, and has been a great addition to the pack! He has been playing good with the other two! He loves his belly rubs too We have had some bumps in the road (some fights, a Thanksgiving turkey incidence, several breakouts from his crate), but it's all worth it! |

I'm curious about the Thanksgiving Turkey incident LOL. Well, I was having my parent's over for Thanksgiving dinner (they live out of town), and had a nice 20lb turkey for the meal. I took it out of the freezer a day too late, so I had to have it soaking in the sink to get it all of the way defrosted. I made sure to keep an eye on it, so that the dogs were not left unattended with a turkey in the sink. I had to run a couple of errands, so I put the dogs in their crates and left for about 40 minutes. Now, Kodiak has had a past of breaking out of his crate, so I bought reusuable zip ties to make sure he could not get out. I come home, walk in and notice that there is water all over the floor and counter. I look over and the turkey was completely unwrapped and huge chunks missing from the breast. I was shocked! Kodiak comes walking up with the bag of giblets in his mouth!!! He had broken through 4 zip ties and attacked the turkey. At first I was sooo upset! I didn't know how the heck I was going to get another turkey the night before Thanksgiving, and it sure would not have time to defrost. It worked out though..the store had plenty of turkeys, and I just bought a smaller one, which turned out to be plenty. Dinner was good and all was well....until late Thanksgiving night He had explosive poo's for 5 straight days!!! It took almost 2 weeks of constant Pepto, pumpkin, and Immodium for him to get completely normal! I can look back and laugh about it now though |
