Hello all. I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion on this...

About 4 months ago I adopted Tali, an (estimated) 8 year old husky. After being chained, starved and abused for many years, she was rescued and taken to an amazing group. When I adopted her, her teeth were terrible (I had them cleaned and about 10 were pulled), missing patches of fur are now starting to grow in and I now have her at a healthy weight. I can't get her to play with toys because I honestly don't believe she knows how, and I'm now getting the separation anxiety under control. She isn't overly energetic despite how often I take her out to play with her friend (9 year old standard poodle). She loves her daily walks, laying in the sun and smiling while "hooing"around the house. I feel like we have had two good solid months where issues (mostly potty training) are 95% under control and I believe she is very happy.

HOWEVER, the last two weeks have been weird. She will not want to get up in the morning to potty or eat breakfast then just lay in one spot most of one day, but the next day she is perfectly fine. She seems to have one "bad" day then has another 2-4 great days. Today is another one of the days where I can't get her to eat. She just wants to lay down and sleep. She is responsive, but won't get up unless I make her. I haven't had a husky before, so I'm wondering if this is normal. I've never been so bummed to have a quiet house, as she is very vocal when she is happy (per usual, I'm sure).    Does it just sound like an older dog issue?

I will take her to the vet this week if this doesn't improve, but whenever I have an appointment she is acting perfectly fine. She did have bloodwork done when I got her, which was normal.

Since you had the blood work done you have an ancor to use for any new test taken. It could not hurt to have it rechecked since her health has made a improvement something could have come up. Im not sure if that is normal behavior or not. After 4 months her true self could be coming out and maybe thats just how she is.our boy iacck skips meals every week at least once. Are hou using any joint supplements,  maybe her joints hurt due to weather change? Our 11yr old girl is very active, and at 8yrs of age she should be active.

Thanks for the reply! We are back from the vet now. It sounds like she has a (likely bladder) infection going on. I don't know what would have caused it at this point, but it's being treated and I hope that's all it is.

I'm glad you mentioned the joint supplements. She was acting sore or tender when she was getting up and I was thinking the same thing about the weather. She might have been tender with the infection also, but I will be putting her on some glucosamine after this is all sorted out. It certainly worked wonders on my other dog, before and now after a hip replacement! Thanks again!
