So Dizzy has kind of always had this and I am wondering if anyone has seen this before and if it's something I should have checked out by a vet.

Is it the pads? That one looks a bit irritated maybe from shaving the fur? Other than that they look normal to me...

It looks slightly inflamed. I wonder if its an allergy? I don't think it warrants a vet visit unless he's limping or in pain....

Yeah they look irritated. Maybe he just happens to need the fur for better protection on walks. Is it sensitive if you touch it or poke it?

I'd agree the pads look irritated, but in a non-uniform pattern which could indicate a 'scrubbing' gait. Allergies (chewing) could also be a source, but you'd expect the fur to have saliva staining.

What's a scrubbing gait? Is it anything to be concerned about? He doesn't chew or lick it, I've pretty much got his allergies figured out, it also hasn't been shaved. The hair has worn off on it's own.

Maybe it's from the concrete? I noticed his nails are perfectly short as if he walks on paved surfaces a lot.

You see a 'scrubbing' gait most frequently on dogs with poor front assemblies.  It's most often seen in dogs that toe out or toe in.  Instead of having fluid motion they actually scrub their feet.  Think of it kinda like having poor alignment on your car, if your alignment is correct the tires wear evenly if not you see uneven wear patterns in the tread.

This is how the gait should look-

Oh I see, interesting! That is on his back foot, but it looks like from the diagrams, the poor front end could cause that on the back paws? Is that correct? Or could it be a rear/loin issue as well?

Since it's a rear paw I'd suspect cow hocks, weak loin, etc. Same concept. Something in the 'alignment' is off for whatever reason. Just watch it doesn't get worse Smile
