So it has finally come to the point where I have to restock on Yukon's treats. I was just kind of wondering if there was anything you guys would recommend for me to get him. I'll probably get him more Fruitables Pumpkin & Apple recipe as he really loves those. Although I need a replacement for his Zuke's Peanutbutter treats. The animal shelter a few miles away uses Darford cheese flavored treats; I was thinking about getting some as a replacement for Zuke's but apparently you can't buy less than 20 lbs of that stuff at a time which costs around $80. I'm also on borderline for ordering more Blue Buffalo wilderness treats; he loves them but they're really big and crumble when I try to break them into smaller pieces.

So what kind of treats would you recommend for me to get? Any general suggestions would be nice. I'm also looking for treats that might freshen his breath, I'm tired of it smelling like something died in there all the time. xD

I actually give Lycus the Blue Buffalo wilderness (duck biscuit) treats. He LOVES those. Although, I do know what you mean; they definitely crumble when trying to break them up. Since they're pretty cheap, I just kind of deal with it lol.

Kenzi can't go to sleep without her pupperoni. I've recently gotten her nutros though and she seems to like them a lot as well. I got her pomegranate and banana, but they have several other flavors, one being peanut butter. They are supposed to be all natural and they smell great.

Thanks for the responses guys! I think I'll get Nutro Blueberry and Peanut Butter. I'll probably get Blue Buffalo Wilderness again, because you know, they're cheap like Rocio said.

I'm looking into pupperoni as well and might get a bag of those. (Although some of the ingredients in there are questionable and there are claims that it was made in China...) Still looking for treats or chews that help with bad breath/maybe another meat based treat, any ideas?

If you have access to Stella and chewys: dehydrated treats, or orijen dehydrated treats those are excellent. Beams salmon or cod skin is great as well. Very stinky though. I try to stay as grain free as possible, seems like the pup as allergic reactions and causes her skin to dry up. Bully sticks and raw bones with marrow are fantastic as well.

I agree with Zach and also wanted to recommend The Honest Kitchen dehydrated treats. Those are all I'll use now aside from their kibble.

I'll get the specifics when I can, but we switch around with Achilles' treats (we try whatever is grain-free at Marshall's). Lately, we've also picked up what is essentially chicken jerky and some dehydrated (The Honest Kitchen, I think) beef liver cubes. The beef liver may be his new high-reward treat; he loves it! Interestingly enough, he won't eat fresh chicken liver -shrug- maybe it's too slimy for him.

Another high value treat I occasionally use is raw turkey necks or Chicken backs. Arya goes bonkers for them.

I just ordered some called K9 crunchers by K9 granola factory. I'm sure he'll love them, because he loves everything lol and they are fairly healthy.

I only buy Ziwipeak Daily Rewards now - Venison or Lamb or Beef. My dogs love them and they are very healthy too.

I give mine baby carrots and cucumber as treats, but for regular treats:

I go the ultimate cheapo version and I make my own

I have a dehydrator so I dehydrate liver, apple slices, banana, chicken necks, chuck steak (for jerky) all kinds of things really. The liver is great is just a few dollars a kilo so so for about 10 bucks I can make about 6 sandwhich sized bagfuls which I vacuum pack and pop in the freezer. Orion loves them!

His ultimate high value treat is really foul though - I fry up chicken hearts in a tiny bit of bacon grease then sprinkle them with just a touch of parm cheese to make them stinky   
They are good enough that he will run an entire agility course off leash just to get one lol

Olivia - what a dedication! Don't think I could fry up chicken hearths for my dogs especially in becon! Good idea about making your own jerky. We have a bilton box (or whatever it's called, the South African jerky maker) as my hubby makes some for himself. He adds salt, pepper, vinegar etc and I thought it was a must - are you able to make a "clean" jerky with just meat so that it's ok for your pups?

I recently started using stella & chewy's freeze dried dinners. They are like little burgers and Diz loves them, also good enough to allow him off-leash. They are easy to break up, and don't make your hands stinky or gross. Even though I got the surf and turf flavor, they smell fishy enough for him to love, but not so bad I can't stand them. They also don't give him the runs. In fact, they seem to actually help firm up the stool a bit, so it's a win/win. I've had a hard time finding something he likes enough to work for, that doesn't make the day after, um well, crappy...

Edit - i just use them for treats for training, I still feed him his regular dog food for meals.

Kohdi and Mishka gt the Blue Wilderness, they love all of them but I prefer to get the duck for them, theyre the least smelly (The salmon I smell on their breath for HOURS)

A lot of others have mentioned some very high quality treats. If your looking for the best bang for the buck, costco just released their kirkland super premium biscuits which also help freshen breath. You can get a 15lb box for 12.99 ! The ingredients look pretty good in that there are no by products and its pretty low in fat but it does have some wheat flour. Like i said its probably the best bang for the buck.
