| Ive been doing some research and i've read that bathing siberians is bad for there coat and there more like cats in a sense were they clean themselves on a regular basis. I don't know how true these things are and i was just wondering if i could get some feedback. Tyson is my first husky btw |

| I only wash mine when they get really dirty. To be honest I never notice that "doggy" smell from a husky (unless they get all wet in the rain, which does happen). Brushing regularly can cut down on the amount of bathing you need to do, plus it distributes those natural oils through their coat to help keep it healthy.
I don't know about your husky, but both of mine "dig" in their water bowls enough that their paws stay relatively clean. LOL |

| Really nice looking dog! Yes Husky's will clean themselves. I have my girl washed twice a year just to have her really clean. If she starts to stink or rolls in something that makes her stink then I'll wash her at home. I like to brush once a week if I remember to do it. |

| I have a white husky, and I think since June when i got her, I have washed her 4 times; twice cause we were battling fleas, and twice because she found mud, beyond that though she stays very clean and even when a little dirty she will clean her self or I will spot clean her |

| My dogs get bathed and blown out usually about once a month. The reason being- we hike, A LOT. So they get really dirty more often then an average dog. A general rule of thumb for any dog is not to bathe more than once a month- otherwise it can strip the oils in their skin, and cause dry skin, itchiness, etc. As for the furminator, I use it occasionally, but not terribly often. I prefer a brush that gets down and keeps the dog from matting rather than pulling out the loose hair. If you want the loose hair pulled out though, the furminator brush, the rake, and the zoom groom (<- used wet or dry,) work really well! I think it really just comes down to the individual dog and the owners preference |

| I personally don't like the furminator. It seems to damage the guard hairs. I use an undercoat rake and a slicker brush. UNDERCOAT RAKE: SLICKER BRUSH: |

| I bathe mine every 4-6 months, but she will sit there and clean herself most of the day and she doesn't really like to get dirty she will stay away from puddles or mud or stay inside while its raining. I also brush her once or twice a week with a rake and slicker. |

| Nala HATES baths so I only bathe her when she gets terribly muddy in the spring and summer months or when shes blowing her coat a bath helps get a lot of that fur out for me. She never smells unless she is wet or muddy! I use the furmitator when she is blowing her coat other than that i just use a normal rake or brush. |

| I have to bathe Diz every 1-2 weeks. When he was a little pup, it was every week. He just gets filthy here. Lately with all the snow melt and lack of street cleaning, I have to rinse off his legs and belly every time we come in from outside. He just gets covered in black dirty water. If it weren't for that, I'd probably do once a month. I like how his coat looks when he's nice and clean, and I've never had an issue with coat condition. |

| Jen, I was reading your first sentence and I thought you were crazy, every 1-2 weeks! But then I continued reading and it made sense. I agree with that it all depends on the circumstances. If your husky isn't dirty, then I wouldn't bother. Mine only get bathed if they roll in something, or are muddy which isnt' that often, but a couple times in the Spring.
I also use a slicker brush and an undercoat rake, and do not own a Furminator. |

| Yeah, he's such a good boy in the tub. Just stands there. He only gets annoyed when I have to wash his cheeks if he's really muddy. He howls and cries like a little baby with the dryer though. I find it adorable. |

| I don't give my puppy a full bath very often, but I do find myself washing his paws or sometimes giving him a rinse if he's gotten dirty from being outside. Is that bad? I don't use soap or anything when i rinse him. It's just a quick rinse and a towel down. |

Every time (or almost every time) we bring Achilles in, we wipe his paws and any other dirty parts down with a baby (or puppy) wipe. He's had several bouts of C. perfringens, courtesy of stuff he eats/picks up outside, so we're trying to reduce his exposure. I blame myself for taking him to the apartment's communal dog area, which was wet and muddy and he drank/ate things in, whoops. Also, there's enough salt/grunge on the sidewalks and roads here that we do it to protect his paws. I'd say it depends on how dirty your dog is. Even the past couple days when he's had bad diarrhea, we spot clean him if at all possible, then we move onto rinsing him off in those spots. He's had one bathe since he's been home with us (the past two months). |

| When I got Okami when she was 8 weeks old, because of potty training, I found myself washing her maybe once or twice a week because she would mess herself.
Now that she is potty trained, over a year old, I only wash her like once every 4 months (and I started taking her to the groomer instead of doing it myself....BUT I like to wash her in the summer time when I can use the kiddy pool because she loooovvveeesss water) because I read some where that they need their natural oils for their coat to be protected, and if you wash them too often they loose a lot of those oils and their fur can lose nutrients alongside with their skin getting dry and damaged. |

| Rusty Get's washed when he smells. He has dug holes in the back yard and gotten his pretty white paws black with dirt. 20 min later, with no help from me, he's managed to clean himself up and his paws are white again.
We have a furminator and use it once every 2 weeks or so. Otherwise we brush him with the dog brush attachment on our Kirby every other day. It took a little bit for him to get over the sound of the vacuum cleaner but now he loves it . |

| I try to give Yukon a bath (or a rinse down of some kind) at least once a month, mainly because he just gets dirty over time and it's nice to get all that dirt off of him routinely. Also he's still afraid of bath time (plus he hates the hair dryer) and the only way to fix that is show him that it's not a scary thing, which can't be done unless it happens on a regular basis... :/ I guess it comes down to the individual dog. If your dog is a "dirt magnet" (and from what I've read most huskies aren't) then you might want to give him a bath more often than not. |
