Hello All,

Like many, this is the first forum I've joined. I felt I had to after all the first class info as I spent hours and weeks trawling this forum into information overload. Everyone seemed so helpful here, so I just had to join the moment I got my boy home. He's been here about 30 hours. The forum is an absolute god send.

So, a quick introduction. I have a new buddy. His name is Tzar and he is 10 months old. He is my first Sibe and dog as an adult. He came from a rescue home called 'All Dogs Matter', who are wonderful people, as all rescue centre people are. I work from home and can give lots of attention to Tzar that he needs.

He, along with his sister were handed in before Christmas and she was found a home pretty quickly. I researched for ages and ages about the breed and prepared as much as I thought I could. I had arranged to adopt another boy from the 'Alberry Dog rescue', but they had second thoughts after I mentioned I was going to crate train for bed time, and got really angry about it . Oh well.

So, he's settling into life here pretty well. Had a great first night without any whining or howling and is just the best behaved (so far), boy ever. Has loved his first couple of walks in the park and is very civil to other dogs.

I have a bengal cat at home and Tzar has basically ignored him. Toffee the cat isn't as happy to share his affections. He's in a real mood. Sits with his back towards me and won't touch his food I've put in his dish till I've left the room. Furry kids are so funny!

I'm sure the forum will be a source of everything myself and Tzar will need, and hopefully give back lots too.

I read claredcat's first welcome post (because she is also from the UK), and guess what? I'm not on my own. I've only had Tzar 30 odd hours and I'm obsessing already. Is he happy? Why isn't he smiling at me? Why isn't he sat at my feet the whole time? Why is he sat at my feet the whole time? He's asleep, did I exercise him too much? He's walking around, do I need to take him for his 7th walk today? Again, like Clare, you get the picture!

So I'll end this essay here as it was only to be a brief intro thanks to all those who post and provided me with invaluable information and thanks to those who started up the forum.

I'm a giggling my a** off - the new mommy thing  We got a shelter Siberian almost 5 months ago, now. I wouldn't leave the property for 4 days after we got him, is he too skinny, is he eating enough, is it the right food, why doesn't he sit down (he has a 100 ft trolley and several tethers around 5 of a 30 acre property and he was so excited after spending 2 months in a shelter kennel he was into everything - digging at the roots of trees, chasing birds, eyeing Miss Brat Cat that likes to torment him...etc, etc, etc) Then the "I don't think he likes me thing, he likes you better than me..." Then winter came and he prefers to eat snow than drink water so then it's "he's not getting enough fluids, how do I get him to drink (easy, pour twice as much heated water as kibble into his food dish and bait his other water with a few pieces of kibble - he thinks it's stew ) 

Now, we are going away for 2 weeks for birth of grandchild - I overheard my husband talking to his sister. Apparantly she asked why dog couldn't stay with my other son (we are taking him with us in little subaru WRX with monster subwoofer in trunk, looks like I'll be doing frequent laundry and wearing the same clothes for 2 weeks  ) Husband told sister dog is like my baby and I have separation anxiety (dog is fine, he adores my son).

We have season tickets for skiing, I have been very reluctant to leave the house so have not used them much this year...

I sure hope this resolves, soon. Mr. Dog is the first thing I think about waking up and the last thing at night, and most everything in between...

I don't understand the crate thing some people have - my dog loves his crate. We have little rituals at night (no, I don't read him a bedtime story...but  Then, again, I've made it into a little palace/cave and he gets a midnight stuffed kong every night. Don't want baby to be hungry

Thanks so much for the reply, it was really kind of you. I really thought it was just me, phew. 2 days down and I think I've aged 10 years crumbs a WRX you are brave. I have a small BMW convertible, and thinking I now now need a 4x4 just for Tzar. I'll pass on the compliment. Just got home after a walk in the park, and have now realised with his baby blues I can forget any attention for ever more!

The funny thing is, I haven't had to show Tzar his crate. Just left the door open and when he's tired, like after a walk or at night, he takes himself off to bed.

You little one is so pretty, what a smile? I bet there's lots of fun to be had in the finger lakes. I miss the snow, in my late teens, early twenties I was in a ski team and we hardly ever get any in England, none this year.

I hope everything goes really well with the grandchild, and again, thanks for posting.

Did you say "little one" My baby is 24" at the withers and about 60 pounds. He, too, likes winter sports - when we first got him, he thought he was a hockey player - favorite was to come bounding at me at 100 miles an hour, leap and fling himself at me and body check me at my shoulder height!!! That photo was the one the shelter put in the paper - I saw it at the gas station while hubby was filling the tank. We then went directly to the shelter, I fell in love and the rest is history. Hubby says doggie is the love of my life, but that it is ok - it's just "froggy" (watch the last Lethal Weapon movie for the reference...)

Hubby walked the dog a few days at a park while I grocery shopped - said Mr. Dog is a real babe magnet!

Hehe I soooo wish we had more ice and snow. It's rained in England forever this year. A years rain in six weeks! I'm not sure after a run how I can be so muddy and Tzar looks as if he's been to the salon.

Well they are lil ones kinda. The shelter had a few problems getting weight on Tzar. But now he's on his own I'm sure I can sort that out. He's only 40 pounds but apart from that is really healthy.

Babe magnet, really? I never thought about that when choosing such a pretty boy.
