Thank you for the information. Though I am close in posts, I don't know that submitting a photo will be any time soon - I a old lady and takes a while for me operate our camera (oldest son gave us a digital canon - works great for my garden photos BUT the flowers stand still ). I tried to measure Ami at the withers today and gave up, he tried to eat the yard stick, he lay down and chewed on my shoelaces, he turned in circles to see if I had food in my hand, he jumped up and licked my face... he might be a Siberian, you think? |

- Haha. How old is Ami?
Somewhere between 17 and 19 months. We got him from the animal shelter in Oct - they took him to Cornell vet school for neutering and their report estimated his age at 12-14 months at the beginning of Oct. I could not ask for a better dog - I don't know how, because he was sadly neglected to the point of abuse, but he has the sweetest disposition, he's wonderfully playful, absolutely loves people (husband calls him a "dog whore") (well, almost all people - he wasn't too crazy about the man that yelled at me for walking my dog on the road and making his indoor german shephard bark so he had to come out and see what the problem was ), gets along extremely well with other dogs both at the dog park and on our walks...my major guilt trip is that I should get him a companion as he loves to play with other dogs so much. The only down side, he wants to eat the cat that adopted us years ago (she was my neighbors cat but she tormented their dogs (taunting them just out of reach). The cat and we have an agreement - she can have all the mice, chipmonks and rabbits she can eat and we will provide cat food a place to sleep in the garage in the winter and a lap and a scratch whenever she wants it. She found that Ami was a different order of things when she tried her S*** with him. Now, she finds trees and the top of the wood pile a better alternative! |

| Well it sounds like he was meant to be. I love the saying "we end up with the dog we need." When it all clicks and the relationship is mutually satisfying and you both grow and change together...and challenge one another...it is a wonderful feeling.
Good work with him. |

Haha thanks Liz, and Amy lots and lots of practice, although mainly like I said a combination of me throwing the mask on and Abby snapping pictures. Luckily the hat and scarf wasnt too hard, Yuki's been used to me snapping pictures with things on her head for ages now LOL |

Forgive me for getting off topic, but, YES, this is so true. We had little idea of how Layla would be other than what we knew from having met both her parents and knowing their temperaments, but really I think we got the perfect dog for us. She's incredible. We couldn't have asked for a better dog to come into our lives. Fingers crossed it's meant to be with our second as well and we aren't trying to tempt fate, hah. |
