| Here is one for yall:
I took Neeko to the vet for her yearlies and to get her ear checked as it was red and she was scratching at it. Takoda was always cleaning it for her as well. According to the vet, she had a yeast infection in her ear...usually it is because of allergies, but because it was only located in a single ear, that was not the cause.
According to the vet, it could have been humidty, dry air, or any number of things. He flushed her ear, and put anti-inflamitory, anti-bactorial, and anti-fungal stuff in there to clean everything out.
Today I took her in for a follow up and she is 99% cleared up. Just some drops to put in for a few more days. The redness which was caused by Takoda licking it so much, will continue to clear up...it came about from his saliva.
Very interesting stuff. Just thought I would share this with yall. Any thoughts to add?? |

| Rodney had an ear infection when we got him and I took him to the vet for his one year check up and the vet said it was all cleared up but they are usually caused from allergies also. He was very red but the redness has gone away... |

| My grandmother's dog has chronic yeast infections in her ears and they're really painful. She's even had surgery to help it.
They're not usually very common in huskies because their ears stand straight. They happen more often in dogs with floppy ears because of the lack of air and the ears tend to be a warm, moist place. I imagine the humidity in Georgia might have something to do with it for sure.
It's not very common for a husky, but it's by no means unheard of. I hope she feels better soon! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| I was browing around the forum and came upon this. When Willow first came to our house she kept putting both paws behind her ears and dragging her paws forward. She did that a lot so we scheduled a vet visit.
Sure enough she had a yeast infection in both ears. The vet cleaned them out and gave us some drops to put in her ears. My daughter would massage Willow's ears and Willow would just make a sound like ooooh keep doing that.
She also has a place that she bites on her side, the same place all the time. When our rescue lady was here we said something to her about it. She said that sometimes you can see that in a dog that has allergies but since we are feeding her Taste of the Wild and Wellness, she doesn't think allergies is the reason she is biting her side.
So from what I read here, could this be allergies? We have only had Willow almost 2 weeks so we don't know what she was eating at the shelter. She had been there 3 wks and before that she was running the streets in Joplin, Mo.
What do you think? Should we have her checked for allergies?

| Is she just biting or is the hair thinner in the area? Allergies do seem unlikely, but not out of the question. It could be a skin thing too.
Honestly, I would just keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, schedule a vet visit, otherwise just bring it up next time you go. Unless she's thinning the hair there or doing damage to herself. In which case, I would try adjusting her diet to rule out allergies. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| It looks like she is chewing at it. This morning she had her back leg in her mouth chewing on it. Her hair isn't thin in that area.
I think we will watch since we have only had her 2 weeks this Sunday. Thanks! |
