| Hello!
So i've searched every keyword i can think of but couldn't find anything on this. Also, apologies for not having a picture right now! But Gus has these little bumps on his face. They look slightly reddish, but if you look really closely, it almost has a white-ish colour, almost like a pimple. They seem to be kind of in clusters, but maybe just 2 together, not big at all. And they are located one on each side of his face, and one right under his muzzle close to his throat (where it's soft, not along the bone). There are whiskers coming out of it too!
I was wondering if other people's dog have that too? He had papilloma before, but those were inside his mouth, and the vet removed them during his neuter. These don't really look like that. I feel like if i squeezed them hard enough, i could pop them... I looked it up last night and am thinking that it could be a sebaceous cyst? Has anyone had these on their dog? And if so, what did you do to get rid or take care of them?
I can't seem to find any pictures online to compare! |

| Hmmm.... I don't think I've ever seen anything like you've described, and I've definitely never death with it before. Good luck finding out what it is and hopefully it's nothing serious! I did find this chart, maybe you can find it helpful

| Thanks Rocio! That's quite the list! I'll read through and see if I can figure out what it is. I'll try and take a picture tonight too. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. It's almost like a wart. If it doesn't get better soon, i'll contact my vet. Except that he left our clinic! So now I'm not sure if i move with the vet, or stick with my clinic haha. What's the vet etiquette here? |

| It wouldn't happen to be acne would it? Do you feed out of plastic bowls? My cat used to get pimple like things from her chin down and we finally found out its cat acne! (There's dog acne too of course)
Here's a link if you want to check it out http://myplasticfreelife.com/2010/10/cat-dog-acne-from-plastic-bowls/ |

| Based on the list, i am starting to think it's acne too! But then when i google imaged "canine acne", that's not what Gus's looks like at all. And he is fed from stainless steel bowls (or our own ceramic ones when his are dirty haha). His chin does seem reddish sometimes though...
I'm going to try a warm compress on it a couple times a day and see if that helps. He's not bothered by it, and it's not growing or anything like that. I'll try and take a picture of it tonight. |

| It could sound strange but are you sure they are not ticks?
I found one on my boy one day and would have swore it was a cyst or some kind of skin protrusion. Then I started looking at it really close and noticed the ''whiskers'' too. Turns out they were the ticks legs.
Got myself a pair a tweezles and pulled it off by the head.
Just throwing that out there.
Edit: I knew they weren't skin pimples when I squeezed it a bit and my dog did not flinch at all. you could try that. |

| Hmmm... I actually have no idea what a tick would look like if it were stuck in him. But his whiskers are white and really long. I'm guessing tick legs are dark and short?
Haha and i was going to say that i'm not sure if we get ticks in this freezing weather, but then i saw you're from Quebec!!! I'll take a peek again tonight. But i don't think they are ticks as they've been there for awhile now.
It's one of those things where i thought it was just normal for dogs to have... almost like a mole. But then when i looked REALLY closely last night, that's when i realized it was almost pimple-y looking. |

| Yeah the legs were short and black. But other than that it was skin colored and looked like a pimple. There was no hair on it though. Like I said i was just throwing this out there.
And yeah he got it this summer not this winter. I went in the woods with him and noticed it a couple day later. He probably got it there. |

| Sounds like folliculitis to me! Your just more likely to notice it because he is white. |

| I have returned with pictures! So the first one is a zoomed in one. You can see the whisker, and then the base is white and SLIGHTLY swollen. The second is just a picture of what it looks like zoomed out. It is barely noticeable if you're not looking for it, or if you're not petting his face. I am starting to think it's just a swollen hair follicle... |

| Hang on... If it helps I have just completed a certificate in companion animal care... it could possibly be irritated but I wouldn't say it's inflamed or infected.. I'll toodle off and see if Digger will let me take a photo of his.. he has white fur in that area as well...
In the mean time... Could you answer a question for me? Animal related things... ethics etc.. seem to be very different in the USA to here...
Is it a problem to find a good vet in the US? Or do you just mean one you click with and are comfortable with? In NZ our Vet's have a minimum 5 years of intensive university training... If you don't hit the grades in the first year (pretty sure just 1 year) you won't gain entry to the next years. Vet Nurses only have need 2 years training, the course I have finished is classed as the first... Sometimes you will find a Vet you don't click with... can't say I have met any that weren't well educated and didn't know what they were doing. |

| I didn't get any intense close up's like you, but as you can see the whisker area is always raised with an appearance as if they have a mole under their fur which the whisker's protrude from. If you are worried I suggest just checking on it daily. He may have turned his head at some point and collected the tip of the whisker on a surface and jarred the shaft, causing irritation.. | Thank you Carissa! I am thinking that it's not infected either. Just worried me I guess when the base was white-ish and I thought it could be pus or something. I'm going to keep doing a warm compress on it and keep an eye. When i started noticing them, he was having belly issues and food allergies so I wouldn't be surprised if that is the cause. I actually live in Canada. It's not hard at all to find a good vet! I think it is just me haha. I like to have someone that I can REALLY trust with my dog, in terms of knowing what they're doing, but also being patient with Gus. I am one of those better-safe-than-sorry kind of people, so if the vet suggests something, I will do it, which makes me worry about getting ripped off for something that I didn't really need. Also, I was with the same vet for a very long time and he just recently left for a different clinic. I want to follow him but not sure if that would weird him out haha. AND it wasn't close to where I live either, so I kind of want to find someone closer. I started my research, but every batch of reviews will always have 1 or 2 bad reviews, so I'm still thinking about it. I havent had a need to bring him in for anything lately so I'm not really rushing it right now. Thank you for taking those pictures! Gus's "bump" looks a lot like Keyto's, and in the exact same spot too So i feel better about it now. I'll keep up with cleaning his face more often! I love Keyto's black whiskers! |

| I think both of mine have this and my last pup had at least one I always considered it a mole type thing where a thicker whisker was coming out. Our vet never said anything and didn't suggest removal when she went in for a calcium deposit on her eye lid to be removed along with a large skin tag on the front of her leg so we assumed it was normal. |

| I always thought it was a mole thing too lol. Lycus has two of them, one on each side of his face. He has a whisker coming out from each one too so I always thought they were normal. |

| I think you guys are right! Thank you for checking your pups for me too . Last night, I put a warm compress on them, and just a dab of coconut oil, and they all seem to have shrunk quite a bit, and appears less red, especially the ones on his cheek. Pretty sure they were just slightly irritated and I was overreacting haha. Thanks again everyone! |
