Been so long since I had a puppy, I just don't remember but both Zelda and Vixen seem awfully tiny. Vixen is 5 months, 30 lbs and 15" (yes, she is a bit chunky) Zelda just turned 6 months and is 26 lbs and 17" at the top of her shoulder. I have had several people ask if they are "miniature huskies"! Vixen was the runt of the litter, and Zelda was I suspect stunted due to poor nutrition. (She was only 21 lbs when we got her a month ago!) I am ok if they stay small...just seems surprising to me that they aren't taller thaN they are. But it has been a while since we had a purebred husky- maybe I just got used to Tim's size and they seem tiny by comparison?

Arya is just over 9 months and I think she is still growing but only very little, she really leveled of at 7ish months.

Hmmm. 7 months...they would have to have a major growth spurt then! I did just realize Zelda is still a week shy of 6 months actually...but to grow another 3-4 inches in a month or so seems like a stretch. Oh well. Maybe I will just pass them off as Shiba Inus.

I got Pippa when she was about six months old and she hasn't grown height wise at all really. She's definitely filled out some, but hasn't grown up much at all that I've noticed.

I want to say Shaqua still gained a little height after 1 year. She was a bit short at one year old, but by 2 she was her full adult-height.

Most are 'finished' growing (upward anyway) between 1-2 years. Denali is 2yr 5mo and he grew at least an inch over the last year. My girls on the other hand are growing painfully slowly, only 19.75" and 20.25" at 9 months....now Kenna hit her gangly ugly puppy phase and is starting to sprout up again. Their breeder said not to expect full maturity until they are 4-5 years.

If there is any real concern you could always have a vet evaluate the growth plates to see if they have closed or not...if they have closed you have your answer.

Another thing a different breeder told me once in females, females don't grow after their first heat...but I don't know how true that is for other lines, perhaps just hers.

I have heard rumors that they stop growing once you spay them- is their any truth to that? Zelda is scheduled to be spayed on the 15th...

Nope, not true at all. Ghost is a solid 20 lbs heavier and several inches taller than when she was spayed at 5 months old. She's now 23" tall and 45 lbs.

No in males the hormone to stop growing sometimes get lost after being neutered causing them to grow over sized. Spaying has no effect on a female. Juneau was spayed at 7months and his a perfectly healthy well within standard female.

Your girls seem like they're doing just fine. Yuki is 19' tall and 36 pounds at 8 months, still waiting to see if she'll get any bigger though

That's so my biggest concern right now....will my girls get any bigger LOL- so many plans are pinned on them being 'normal'-

I have not really ever measured Sabaka's height, but with his last heart worm meds refill I was given a printout with some of his health history on it. I was shocked to see that his weight has remained within one pound of 50 pounds since he was 7 months old. I do not think pictures reflect that, because as others have said, I remember the gangly teenager phase. He has an appointment for some booster shots on Tuesday, so we will see if he is still 50 pounds at 2 years 5 months.

He looks very filled out now- maybe his weight just re-distributed itself?

I wonder if that is what happened to Loki.

If he was neutered early it's possible, it's also possible that's just who he was meant to be. Never know, especially not knowing anything about his lineage can't really say on my part.

how tall did your pups end up being? my girl is 4 months old and is 16 inches. i feel like she is such a shorty lol. she's also about 19 lbs.. i wonder how big she'll get. i noticed she is putting on some weight so i'm guessing she might have a growth spurt soon.. i'm surprised my girl isn't taller as well. according to the breeder both of her parents were pretty tall and the mama was very leggy and 50 lbs.. just curious about your pups thanks

Give her time - bitches can grow into themselves until around 2 years of age.

They didn't get much bigger, and both are over a year now. I will have to measure them later, they maybe grew another inch. People still come up and go "is that a husky? I have never seen one so small!"
