2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Husky Proof Gate Empty
PostSubject: Husky Proof Gate   Husky Proof Gate EmptySun Mar 09, 2014 5:19 pm

Hello everyone,

I have two huskies and we mostly keep them inside. The times that they were outside, huskies being escape artists, they broke through the fence and have smashed the wooden gate in and have escaped. When I boarded up the gate they started climbing. Fortunately they didn't get far and our neighbors called us immediately. We do exercise them constantly and take them to the dog park but huskies will be huskies. We are converting the fence to a brick wall but need suggestions on building a husky proof gate. Any suggestions?

Thank you

Hmm... husky proof? LOL. I don't know if that exists....

At least 6 ft tall, the smoother the better so they can't climb (I suggest wooden panels back to back.... that way the support beam it is attached to is sandwiched in the middle of the 6' tall slats, giving nothing to climb on).

So, basically a wooden privacy fence that is "double sided" if you understand what I mean? Unless you don't care if your neighbors see the "ugly" side of the privacy fence... depends on the rules where you live.

Oh, the latch? I'd get a clip and put it in the slot where you would put a lock, that way they can't nose it up and open.

Husky Proof Gate Store-bannerThis kind of fence has a 'roller' at the top so there is nothing for your pup to use as leverage

I believe it's called a coyote roller.

There is also this which isn't as discreet...
