| Hi I have a male and a female and I live in Texas and I am in desperate need of some help. They both are having this problem with scratching or chewing on themselves until the bleed. My male does it almost every summer so I felt like it was hot spots and I give him binadryl to help but he is still chewing on his 2 spots. I am concerned for infection. What do I do? And what else could it be? Thanks~

If you don't mind me asking, what part of Texas? and Welcome. Have you taken them to your vet to see if there is a major problem? Hot spots can be from different things.

Thank you. Ft worth, I know it's horrible because it is over 100*F here. But yes I took him to the vet last summer an that is when he told me to start giving him binadryl to help his irritation and it helps a little but he still bleeds and I feel awful. He he chewed his skin do death that now he has no hair on the base of his tail. I tried putting this skin ointment called corona sav on it but nothing is making it go away.

There are several reasons for hot spots, allergies to food, fleas or other outdoor buggies, or even anal gland infections. Vet didn't tell you what it was from? So you could try an prevent future problems?

No he didn't I don't know if he had much experience with huskies or not but he didn't tell me anything else. So is there anything else I can do besides takin him to the vet to start getting him better? I'm afraid of it sun burning. And my female just started doing it and hers is on her neck, so that scares me, but she is nursing pups right now so I'm afraid to give her binadryl.
