Rollerjoring - Multi terrain or inline skates? Empty
PostSubject: Rollerjoring - Multi terrain or inline skates?   Rollerjoring - Multi terrain or inline skates? EmptyTue Dec 31, 2013 1:18 am

Hi All,
I did a quick search and came up with a few old threads on rollerjoring but none mentioned multi terrain skates. Does anyone have any experience with these?
I am keen to get out rollerjoring with Orion but I have not skated since high school lol. I was a very confident skater (played Ice hockey etc) but due to the time frame since I last skated and my fitness level being vastly worse than what it was I'm not exactly confident to jump back into my old style skates.
Orion will be coming up a year old soon and I really feel as though he needs to be exerting himself a bit more, unfortunately running is out because I have had both my feet reconstructed so I thought this would be the next best thing for him but I am having real trouble picking a style of skate.
The multi terrains I am looking at are these http://www.skorpion.co.nz/skorpion-multi-terrain-skates.html
Any input at all on multi terrain or otherwise would be greatly appreciated!

I have no experience with this, but this sounds terrifying but very cool! I hope it all works out for you to try it! We will have see a video of this, if you decide to do it! Smile

First, I was not a great skater way back when, but I did ice skate last week after twenty some years and left my granddaughters in the ice dust, so you can go back! Now as for the little cars for your feet, how cool! They seem to roll on just about any terrain so I would think they would be good for rollerjor. The worst thing(that I have read)is to hit one of those little stones and crash but these look like they would keep going. If it were me and I didn't have a problem affording them I think I would give them a try.

Those look so much better than inline skates to me. I might try to scare up a pair over here if I can find them. The just look more stable for some reason and if you get in a jam, you can just take them off and walk home. I've been wanting to go skating with Diz when he's old enough, but I was never that great on blades, and combining that with a crazy puppy, well sounds like it might raise my insurance premium. Also the paths in the park aren't super consistent, so I was kind of worried about hitting a rock, or crack, or uneven section and eating it. If you get them, def post a review! Smile

Thanks for your input guys, the thing that was putting me off getting more inline skates wasn't my inability to skate (I was pretty sure I could pick it up again) it was their inability to handle the tiny stones etc and I really don't enjoy faceplanting lol but I knew some people did use inlines so I wasn't sure. It looks like these win though, they just look like too much fun to pass up Smile

Jen these are available in the states too, just go to skorpion.com rather than .co.nz and they can be ordered with free ups shipping Smile

I'll post a review when I can Smile

I'm looking forward to a review too... I have a extreme pulling husky and would like to test the whole world of joring (biking, roller, scooter, etc) with a low center of gravity so falling hurts the least. Cool I wonder how the brakes do against husky power. Anyways wanted to chime in saying they look sweet and fun if they work. Let us know.

Thank you very much for the info.

My other half has a CaniX belt but, as I'm more likely to ride a horse than run Wink I was looking at skates. They seem pretty cool in the video.
