I understand there can be many reasons or humping, BUT coupled with the vulva interest, is he possibly just having a testosterone surge?

Titan was humping the day I brought him home at 8wks old, and he's always been one for "digging" into crotches with his snout. Many puppies will hump from being over stimulated (not sexually) or because they have yet to learn proper social behavior.

He's just doing it with Keyto at this stage, so I am ok with that... If he starts humping humans... well, thats a different story

Inuk tried to hump a female in heat a week ago. He's now 4 months old. But this was the first and so far the only time he tried that.

Dogs start humping as early as 5wks if I recall correctly. They're not "serious" about it, of course, just kind of testing things out and seeing what happens.

But I'm sure some are precocious, just like people.

Well he may have a small urge from the ball drop. Our Nova did the dominate hump when he was 2 months had to figure out pack order - Granted there was this one time he got interested in our neighbors fixed boxer.
