| When I got Keyto, I was told she doesn't really like unfixed female dogs. She has attacked my brothers unfixed female at one point as she got to close to me, but that was early in the piece. She has spent quite a bit of time with her victim since, and they actually played together once. Other then that they had some minor disputes over food and Keyto's bed. Now that Keyto is fixed herself, I figured she would do better with fixed females, But on meeting she still tries to dominant hump, and gets a bit snappy, and we have to keep her tethered. (especially on her own turf) Will I just always have to tether her til she gets over her issues with new dog? When I decided to get another pup, this was the reason we got a male, even though I would have preffered another Female. Anyway, as I have seen mentioned, Huskies are like potato chips, and I would like to get another one this year coming, but I would like a copper or red one - but I do really want a female... With Keyto's track record, I don't know wether I should even think about it.. Would also like opinions on if I did get a female, would adopting a rescue even be worth thinking about, or would I have to get a puppy to increase Keyto's chances of acceptance? Any info/advice on extending my husky family would be appreciated |

| Sometimes fixing a dog won't change aggression towards unaltered dogs. I think it may just be her personality and she is just a dominant dog in general.
Have you ever had Keyto around a female puppy? Maybe if she grows up with Keyto, Keyto won't act as aggressive.
If your considering a rescue, I think you should definitely have them meet before anything else and see if Keyto likes him/her.
I don't have a lot of personal experience with this so I can't help too much. Hopefully someone else with more experience and advice can chime in! |

| Kelsey (Sheba&Kennedy) would be a good one to talk to about this, as she has an aggressive female, fosters and has multiple dogs in the home. I believe she will be getting a pup down the road as well. Maybe shoot her a pm? Sorry I can't help more. |

| Although not a husky, I have a female akita who will not tolerate another female in her space. I knew going into getting any other dog they would have to be male. We have even tried her with another family members female puppy, and it wasn't worth it. She is fixed and has been since she was 9 months old. Izzy was here first and knowing she would not be comfortable with another female we know as long as she is here and we would like another dog, it will be male. So we now have 3 male sibes I had to pass on numerous pups that I wanted due to them being female and it was kinda crappy at the time, but it was what was best and I love my boys. Not to mention, I would rather deal with a dog-dog fight anyday over a bitch-bitch fight. I'm not saying it can't be done, but I just never wanted to risk having to crate and rotate or needing to rehome a dog. |

| As long as you have access to another female that you already know has had an issue with Keyto maybe that's the starting point. See if they can learn to get along and then think about adding a different dog. If they make nice then you should have a better chance with another female, if not then you will know you need to add a male. I found my dog and my DIL's dog have gotten along better after I started working them together, but the problem they had was real playful and real shy. I wish you luck. |
