Bella trickling pee while playing Empty
PostSubject: Bella trickling pee while playing   Bella trickling pee while playing EmptyTue Dec 24, 2013 10:23 pm

Hey everyone, hope you're having a great holiday. I had a quick question for everyone. My husky Bella was playing with one of her toys this evening on my Mother's bed. While playing, she started trickling urine a little. She even spun around, as if alarmed at what was happening. I walk her twice a day, and take her out every two hours when I'm home, so In know she didn't actually have to use the bathroom. Has anyone ever had any similar things occur when their husky ( or any dog for that matter) was playing? Thanks in advance for the input!

~Gary

It may be a UTI, its definitely something I would ask the vet about. Our puppy gets so wrapped up in playing that if we don't take her out regularly, she'll go right where she's playing at and you know its not her fault!!!

I've had a few granddaughters and when they were "puppy" age they would get so involved in playing the same thing would happen to them. Young bladders can be unpredictable at times, and it could be a UYI as Roxy suggested.

I actually experienced a similar thing yesterday. I took Yukon out on schedule (like you I take him out once every two hours) and then after that we were playing in the living room. About 30 minutes later I went away for a minute or so to do something, and when I came back there was little pee spots on the floor. Although it wasn't a concentrated puddle either, it was just 5-15 small spots here or there. I read that puppies can often pee in excitement, and I was kind of being a bad boy by jumping over the baby gate to get in and out of the room. Although that doesn't scare him I'm sure that it got him excited, so I just left it at that. Like the others said it might be a UTI but if it doesn't happen again or not very often then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Of course it still might be worth a call to your vet if you're worried. (I don't know if dogs are like people on this one; but in my experience with Human UTI's in my little sisters the urine usually has a fouler smell, they can't control their bladder, and it "hurts" to pee. Just some food for thought.)

Hope I helped a bit! Very Happy

My mom has a Yorkie that pees a little every time she is excited. And the vet said some dogs will do that. We would just make it a goal to make her super excited outside first to let her get excited and go. But it was Nice to have the vet check and make sure there was nothing medically wrong.

Thank you guys for all the input! She did it again today, but I'm beginning to think she's about to go into heat. It's been 6 months since her last heat, and I noticed while walking, her #2's aren't as solid as they usually are. Usually when I walk her, she'll pee a few times. But today, she squatted and peed atleast 30 times.

Honestly it sounds like a uti. It makes them have to pee a lot more often and at times very little comes out. I know a heat might make her mark more, but I doubt that it would make her incontinent. You should get it checked out by a vet, if it is a uti and goes untreated, it could work its way up into the kidneys, which can be dangerous.
