| Some have shorter hair and some are fluffier - most siberians I've seen in the North Island of my country are generally quite short haired, they don't have as much of a mane as the south island ones... the south Island is closer to Antartica and gets more snow (so its a colder climate down there) The North Island is hotter because it is closer to the equator.. So I'm picking it depends on your climate but will be genetics as well I guess because you can get what is known as a woolly husky... and thats a genetical thing.. Well thats the guts of it for my country, but there will be someone here that knows a crap load more then me about it, as I am a relatively new husky enthusiast myself Plus things could be a bit different for your country as you guys have a bigger genetic pool for sibes then we do. Siberians were first introduced to New Zealand in 1977 by a woman called Charlene Wasson. |

| It's a combination of genetics and environment primarily. Genetics probably play the largest role, but the same dog raised in a warm environment vs. a cold environment will likely have a coat that has adapted differently. |

| He won't be "fluffy" until he matures, and even then it isn't a guarantee he will be fluffy. Like Sara said, it depends on genetics and where you live. If you live in a hotter climate; chances are your dog isn't going to be super fluffy. Colder climate; chances are your dog will have more fur. It's basically like when they blow their coat; they blow the winter coat and grow in a summer coat right? Well, they either have a summer coat all the time or a winter coat all the time.
Keep in mind that statement is no where near politically correct; but in layman's terms, it sums it up. Ish. |
