I have contacted a behavioralist for my 2 huskies who have had some recent escalation in their behaviors (resource guarding, and attacking the cat). He has recommended a technique (book) called 'Ruff Love' by Susan Garrett. From what I can tell (I have ordered the book) it involves crating much of the time, except for during training and under direct supervision. It appears I would need to keep the dogs seperated for the duration of the begining phase (which is 6-8 weeks)....but again, I have not read the book, and there is limited clarification/description on the web. From what little info I have found, it does not sound like it would be easy, and it may make things worse if the dogs get less exercise.

Does anyone have any experience with this technique, either good or bad?

Susan Garrett is a respected trainer in the sport world, I have heard good things about the book. Never have had personal experience though. Her programs work well if you can be devoted to them for the duration and take things seriously.

You can always modify what you read too. Take them out and exercise them- I think everyone with this breed would agree, you'd be crazy (or go crazy) not exercising them! Lol other than that, I agree with ^
