| So I am looking at the puppies and trying to pick one and I have noticed people say red tend to act a little different. I would love for people with red huskies to weigh in! Decisions on who is going to be your new baby is difficult! I am going to wait for more info from the breeder! |

| I've actually heard the same thing but since I don't own one, I can't tell you from personal experience lol. I will actually keep an eye on this thread as I am also curious to know! |

| Same here! I've heard so many anecdotes about red huskies being "crazier" than other colors. Could be certain genes related to personality/energy level that are activated when the red-color gene becomes dominant, maybe?
One of our three huskies we would like to be a red or copper female, so anyone with any info, please chime in! |

| Jeff do you have any idea when you will get husky #2? I have a deal that the third dog will be a Keeshond so it will be a number of years before I will be looking at an other husky. But Keeshounds are cute too. Oh the sacrifices we make for the people we love. lol. |

| Generally, we are gonna wait until Link is around 2 and through his adolescence. So about a year from now. We have a great relationship with our breeder though and she tends to have greys, so it is possible that we get another grey/white. Time will tell.
Ideally, we want a red one though. Our loyalty to Link's breeder may take the cake though. |

| Can't say if its based on him being a red or not.. but oh yeah. Link is 1000000x times crazier than Yuki. He always has mega zoomies, gets these wild expressions, and is the class clown of every husky meet. |

| This makes me giggle because it is a standing joke here in nz that the black huskies have the "naughty gene" the reds are the sweethearts. Orion has a red friend and when they are together his friend constantly has this look on his face like "this dog has lost his friggin mind" it is hilarious Orion far out crazies any red I have met so far... |

| Willow is completely the opposite end of the spectrum from Bane. Willow is my baby, and she is definitely more hyper, a little bit shier, and has more facial expressions than Bane does. She is also VERY vocal, and will voice her opinion on anything. Today, for instance, we were driving down to the dog park today, but grabbed something to eat before we went. She started 'wooing' at us to hurry our butts up (that's what I imagine her wooing at us for, anyways). She also entertains herself a bit more with her toys than Bane does. When we went to the dog park today, there was another female husky puppy, and these two singled each other out, went off into a corner, and played on their own. I have heard other people say that their red huskies are way different, and from my experience, I would say yes, they do seem to have a bit different personality than others. |

Redhead huskies = insanity

| Not sure if the red has anything to do with it or if it's something that developed before we got her (most likely), but Kenzi is very moody and extremely dominant. She's excitable but not constantly hyper. She's exercised regularly though. Only cuddly in the mornings. Pouts when she doesn't get her way and has a serious case of ADHD. She makes a lot of odd noises ranging from whines, yips, and talking groans at random times. Back when she was still okay with other animals she would pester them constantly until she could get a rise out them. In a nutshell she is a bully. If she was a human she would have no friends but since she's a husky she manages to perk those cute ears and get away with it. _________________ |

| sierra is our trouble maker and jack is the good boy so im not sure where i stand on that, maybe its the "lighter" reds that cause the issues..... _________________ |

| Bode is pretty chill most of the time, especially in the house, so we definitely don't fit the redhead craziness archtype. |

| My two reds are crazy bullies, lol. Maya's pretty chill when there aren't other dogs to play with around, but she's also the oldest in the house. Sophie's going through some crazy phase right now....but Kay is pretty insane all the time. xD |

| My sable is calm and sweet and my red is a total nutbag. She plays really rough and is psycho all the time. She gets sassy and talks back all the time, especially if i tell her no. She is definately my problem child. LOL |

| I have a light red female. She's about 7 now, but we got her when she was about 3.5 years old, and she has always been mellow. Sure she has the zoomies on occasion but they are short bursts, unless we haven't taken them out on the trail for quite some time then maybe she'll get a big burst of the zoomies lasting for maybe about a couple of minutes longer than the 1-2 minute zoomies on the the occasion.
I keep saying I'm probably one of the few that have pretty mellow huskies compared to most.
Storm, my grey/white male is nearing his 9th birthday and he seems to not care to go on walks much anymore, but still loves to get out on the trail which takes him just a few miles to wipe him out!

| I've only had red huskies but I have heard that they tend to be "different". I like whatever it is that makes them "different"! I do think they get mad and pout (even though I read everywhere that dogs don't do this), they are very hyper-hyper-hyper, our first was very destructive (but allot of that was our fault) and both have been rather aloof. Now that I read that description again I see that all of those traits can and have been said of any husky. Perhaps the reds to a higher degree...? I really don't know... Very interesting question! |

| Our red girl Brandi acts completely different than Nicky and Hayden! Although, the first 5-6 months we had her, she was living with him and Nicky and Hayden living with me. Now that we live together, she is like the black sheep of our house. She's gotten much better, but still isn't 100% yet. |

| Django our little red has only been with us 2 1/2 months. He is more vocal and cuddly than Loki. He is also more likely to go off and play with a toy by myself. He doesn't get as many zoomies has Loki. Overall he seems calmer than Loki. |

| My black and white is bat shit crazy. Completely, bat shit crazy bitch. She's like the energizer bunny, especially lately. Has these insane zoomies where she will jump 4-5 feet in the air, will go into my bedroom and tear the newly made bed up all the while growling at herself; she will sit in front of the other two and chew on their legs and grab their noses and just plain harass them; she will literally pull my Standard Poodle into the other room while growling at her to try to get her to play with her, she will sit in the middle of the room and start her "crazy howl" as I call it.
Just had to throw my black and white girl into the mix of the crazies. |
