Choosing proper diet for my puppy Empty
PostSubject: Choosing proper diet for my puppy   Choosing proper diet for my puppy EmptyFri Nov 22, 2013 6:45 pm

Hello everyone,

im here to ask you for your help with choosing proper diet for 9 weeks old siberian husky puppy. The key things i would like to mention are that the puppy did undergo quite serious digestive disease (Isospores) and it cost him some growth as the boy is only 6.5 pounds now and little over 11 inches tall paw to shoulder. We (me and my GF) do take our puppys health care very seriously and we are undergoing all the necessary procedures to make the boy perfectly healthy and happy. He is currently on the diet vet gave us and that is eukanuba intestinal. Any idea what quality is the food? We feed him like 55grams per day and he acts very hungry every time he finishes his bowl, at least he is very enthusiastic about the food now, not like few weeks ago during his sickness Smile. After we finish the bag (in like 1 week), we would like to start switching to high quality food, as high as possible. At the moment, i have access to TOTW, Acana, Orijen and Artemis (and possibly more). What should we choose for the puppy? We want only the best for him so budget is not an issue. Also one side question, is it possible that he caught a cold? He looks like he has a cold and he started peeing a lot more (But he still drinks his 200 - 250ml per day), the peeing makes us worried after what we went through with him already Sad.

We feed costco brand puppy food, but we've also never had any issues even close to what you've gone through. However, this website is extremely helpful and I've seen it suggested numerous times; basically just go through the brands you have access too and it'll break down how much carbs/fat/protein is in each and where it stands ratings wise (3 star, 4 star, etc.)

The excess peeing just could be normal now that he's back to full health. It may seem like alot to you, but it might be normal for his age! And as for the cold, I can't help you but hopefully my post will bump it up for someone else to see and weigh in.

ps. you have the cutest little guy I've ever seen Smile

We feed meeka acana pacifica and she is doing very well on it! Her coat has never been so shiny and soft! Acana believe has very high quality ingredients in it. And dogfoodadvisor.com is a great tool to use!

Thank you for the tips Smile. Just for your information, we are now switching to Orijen Puppy and will be transitioning to Orijen Puppy Large a bit later. He lost so much growing time due to various health issues (Isospores, long lasting huge diarrhea...) that we became really worried about him. During the last vet visit he had almost hit border limits of sodium and kalium in his blood. I somewhat hope it was caused by the diet he was on (Eukanuba Interstitial) as it was really really salty when i tasted it and i read somewhere that its dangerous thing to feed such things to puppies.

Good thing is, he finally slowly started growing now as he was really really little for his age and now he has a lot of catching to do. He is 2 and half months old now.
