Depressed after Neuter? Empty
PostSubject: Depressed after Neuter?   Depressed after Neuter? EmptyTue Nov 19, 2013 5:26 am

So Orion got neutered about 10 days ago and as expected the first day he was groggy, then the next few days he was full of zoomies, destroying everything he could get away with and not understanding at all why I wouldn't take him walkies. Then something odd happened, the last few days he has gone a bit downhill, he got the all clear to start walking etc again but now he doesn't want to. I have to drag him out the door to go then he just plods along totally uninterested, he won't play games and he isn't even chasing the cat. Tonight we had obedience class and normally he is the class clown/terror but tonight... nothing. I dropped the leash and walked away, he just lay down and stared at me. A mini schauzer came up and jumped all over him and he just ignored it (he is normally very very small dog reactive and has always treated them like real live squeaky toys).
He is eating normally, his temperature is normal, his stools are normal, I gave him a full rub down to check for sore spots - nothing.
Honestly I am just at a loss, does anyone have any ideas? Is this normal for post neuter pets? Has it happened to anyone else's dog?

I would definitely run it by your vet to see what they say. When Keeara got spayed not too long ago, a few days after her surgery we think she became depressed..she wouldn't do anything, just layed there and wouldn't even eat which was not like her at all! The second I was able to let her play again she was right back to normal though.
