| Hi I'm Ben with my 2 and a half year old husky, Kemba. I've been reading some of the forum for last 6 months or so but been putting off creating a account until the weather colder. Already learned a ton from this forum and it's made my life a whole lot simpler (glad I found the review of the musher belt and leash). We are from south of Dayton, Ohio starting to be recognized in my city as the one who runs the husky. Anyways just wanted to say hello and look forward to meeting and learning from all you people and huskies out there. |

| Hi, welcome to the forum. Hopefully you've seen by now or know about the rather large number of Ohio Husky members on here. They are one of the most active area groups on here....along with us in Seattle I'm sure they'll be saying hello in a matter of seconds........start counting. Please post some pics of your Husky too! |

| Hii!!! I'm also from Dayton, OH! I am the crazy lady who runs people off the sidewalk with her two sibes Whereabouts are you located in Ohio? We have a meet up group at dog parks once a month, and for those of us who are into urban mushing we're going to try to do mushing meet ups at random bike trails as well. https://www.facebook.com/groups/510780442274114/ Again, welcome! Love seeing Ohians |

| I'm from miamisburg if u are familiar with where that is. I don't have a Facebook ( I know I'm like the last human without one) but will look into it. Would love to get more into husky meet ups and mushing as the weather gets colder the lazier I tend to get. He does motivate me out more often just don't quite have all the winter protection that he comes standard with. Anyways will post a pic tmrw it's a bit much to figure out this late (gotta work in the morning) and a bit much to figure out on a iPhone screen. |

| Yes I know where Miamisburg is, Up until 2nd grade I lived right by the Cox Arboretum and then from there I grew up in Centerville. We'll definitely try to update our Ohio thread here before any meets for you, I know Sunday the 24th we're meeting at the Waynesville dog park at 1pm, one of our members had an idea to do a bikejoring intro before or after the meet as well which we may pursue. Hope you can make it out one day! |

| I live about ten minutes from there or so. The only dog park that I know of around here that I've gone to a few times is in centerville. They get quite a few huskies up there. Just woke up to see we got our first little dusting of snow may have to find a dog park today just to let him enjoy it. |

Yes Oak Grove! We've been there quite a few times. You may have seen us up there, when Abby and I go together there's five huskies between the two of us. I unfortunately don't go to Oak Grove much anymore though, it seems a lot of the owners are abusive towards huskies and seem to think my dogs are aggressive to theirs too many bad experiences and I won't go anymore. |

| Oh ok I haven't gone in quite some time it's a decent drive to there like half hour so I just chose to run with my dog. I always hated goin there and either no one be there or be the odd human out of the talk. That's why I'm kinda more interested in these meetings. As long as I can make it I'm down. I may show some husky beginner signs. I do admit this is my first dog but have spent many hours with huskies before him. So I'm interested in gaining insight on what you know and your dog knows (tricks and bikejoring mushing stuff etc). I still haven't got a chance to upload a picture still working on figuring that out. |

Hopefully we'll see you there! I already requested it off work and Abby should be taking me. And yeah Oak Grove is a 25min drive from me and with the people I encounter I usually prefer to bike mine around my neighborhood. I'm a fairly new husky owner as well - Abby (who posted above after me) had sibes before I did, shes the one who made me fall in love with the breed and I've been obsessed with the breed ever since. I acquired my first sibe, Yuki, in september of 2012. So its been a little over a year now. As far as tricks, they know a lot at home, but are sometimes brats at practicing in public. I am still working on them doing tricks in public. Bikejoring I have fallen head over HEELS with, I plan on getting a gravity scooter whenever I can and have two racing-line sibe breeders I know I want puppies from. I'm completely obsessed with the sport of urban mushing. |

Upload the pictures there, THEN copy that .png code. It should be similar to photobucket.com/url=img_9930.png or something like that. And once you have that link, just put [/IMG] after the photo link and [IMG] before the photo link. |

| I've been afraid of bikejoring as I don't know what my dog needs to learn before I try this. I'm working on right and left directions ( not in gee and haw but right and left) I've done dog/human 5k races with my dog and mainly stick to running but want to know how to start to get into biking and scootering. I run him knowing my feet will stay under me and I have an advantage but not sure with being on a bike and if he runs right what will happen. |

You're doing great by working on the commands now. I also don't use gee/haw.. never could learn the difference left and right is MUCH easier for me. I found bikejoring pretty easy since I have brakes - and if you wanted at the Waynesville park we will possibly be having a urban mushing demo and you could try to run your guy next to Link. Yuki is learning from Link pretty well - having another dog to teach them also helps. Link learned by himself pretty easily though, we originally used the Walky Dog and he caught onto the commands so quickly he earned the right to run up front within a week, and I took him to a bike path where there wasn't any traffic to practice. I'll say the first time I took him out was pretty nerve-wracking, but after that I was able to put my full and complete trust into him and we can run with confidence! And yes, we've had our fair share of crashes. But persistence and practice always triumphs over our bad days and we enjoy ourselves to the fullest. |

| Think I got the picture I wanted to try the bike thing bought a bike this year and didn't around to try it. Still don't have whoa taught as stop. He pulls a lot but obviously lessens with the tiredness. We usually start running out with a mile in under 7 minutes then slowly tapers off gradually to somewhere around 830 for however many miles we go. This year I've started to add distance so we have made our runs up to about 7 miles. |

| Awh he's a cutie! You're much more dedicated than I - I can't even run half a mile! The main reason I took up bikejoring is because I'm too out of shape to jog with my dogs and Link needed a way to vent out his exercise. |

| Well I'm a athletic person. I had first met a escape artist husky (not mine thank goodness) that would sneak out then would act like a bull charge u and when u reach out to grab him he would play keep away. Well I took this as a game because he needed a way to work off energy. So that's where my running began over 4 years ago. So with running with that husky I had always wanted one. So over two years ago I got mine knowing he would drag me out more in the winter and just overall more running. Nothing quite puts you at peace like a husky sprinting with ears streamlined aerodynamic look. That's why I want to get into either dog sledding or some form of joring. Even sub 7 minute mile he still has more left and I don't. Would like to see him top out and watch him enjoy it. |

| Yes, definitely! If you're able to come to the meet sunday, lets hook him up to a bike with Link. You can take control of the bike as long as you're comfortable with it and let them go around the track! (Link will listen to commands from pretty much anyone). |

| Where is it at in waynesville? I'm not real familiar with waynesville. Do you know the park name or address? so I can just plug it into the phone. Crazy that already have met three locals. Also was wondering if any of you guys have been to rei store? (heard ppl talk about it on here) just found out there's one in Cincinnati. People say it's got good athletic dog gear. |

| Thx for the directions. I'm always real skeptical in buying stuff online you can't really judge quality or sizing. Heck I don't like guessing the sizes on regular clothes let alone dog. I just don't want the place to be a flop after driving a hour to get there. We have a little great Miami outfitters that has a 3 foot rack of ruff wear stuff but other than 3 backpack types there isn't really much more. |
