They're annoying little things aren't they? I applied some frontline on Yukon when he turned 7 months old, so hopefully any ticks that I miss will just die and fall off. Although they're still ugly and will be ruthlessly murdered as soon as they are discovered.

Uhhh well I guess I'll post some pictures since it's been about 3 months. They were taken over the last couple weeks but I'm just going to label it as 46 weeks old. (That should be right. I lost count at around 32, but just counted backwards from his birthday... :s )

Aidan, You must have heard me mention that you hadn't posted up pics of Yukon lately. You have such a handsome boy, you got a ham as well, lol. Thank you for sharing.

Haha thanks! actually I just saw your post about that after you mentioned it, talk about a coincidence! I really should be more consistent about taking his photos, but I'm glad you liked them.

His collar does fit much better now! I haven't had to change the size on it yet and technically I can still slip it on him, but I don't think that it's going to be slipping off of him anytime soon as it's much more snug now. Now if only I could find a dog park within reasonable driving distance so he could be socialized with dogs more often...

Wow, Yukon looks awesome! He's got that skinny, compact look of both his parents, and he definitely has his dad's smile. Kermit's got to be proud from his spot looking down on him over the Rainbow Bridge.

I was going to say the same thing Ashleigh did. Now I see why Jen(Dizzy) had me look at your pics. I love his lean, tall, long look, and his ski slope nose, it's a perfect white strip. Haven't been to Maine since I was your age, miss it so. Thanks

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I'm pretty happy with how he's been growing (he's bigger than at least two of his siblings and his mom already) and can't wait for him to start filling out. His breeder didn't seem to be worried about how scraggly he was when she saw him, so I guess that it's pretty normal for racing line dogs around his age then.

Yeah, it's definitely normal for yearling Sibes from mostly working lines to be scraggly and skinny. Layla's just started filling out but she'll probably stay lean. It's hard to tell with Kennedy's dogs how they'll turn out because so much of her stock come from kennels that both work and show.

Just now attempting to catch up a bit. Great pics, I  think I was also your age when I last vacationed in Maine. I really would love to go back...maybe when the kiddos are a little older.

Just curious,  did your breeder mention what caused the death of Yukon' father? Nothing that could be hereditary I hope.

My boy is also working line and he stayed  lean and lanky until around 2.5 - 3 yrs old before he filled in.

Nah it wasn't a genetic issue. They found some stones/unknown blockage in his stomach and went to surgically remove it. However he unfortunately didn't survive the operation...

Maine is a great place for vacation though, I highly recommend it! Just expect to be stopping every 90 minutes or so for bathroom or lunch breaks on the way up.

I've never measured him properly before so I just grabbed a school ruler and tried to get him to not sit, lol. From my measurements he seems to be approximately 55-58cm (22-23 inches) from the base of his feet all the way up to his shoulder. So he's probably in the upper end of the breed standard. I might be able to get a more accurate measurement when I go to the vet today or tomorrow to pick up heart guard and frontline if you want.

Yeah he kept jumping up on all the picnic tables, it was quite funny. Thanks, vacation was a blast! Even for someone like me who really dislikes being close to the beach.

Good luck with that - I've been trying to get Am's height for almost a year now...squirmy little devil.  The variation is upwards of 3 inches

We call it "sphinxing"  - he likes to lie down on top of things and survey his domain - a quite regal posture!

Lol yup, the one time I want him to stand he sits and vice versa. He was fairly calm at the time though so there was too much squirming. xD

Lol, Nala is probably half of that for some reason shes very petite! But shes perfect for me! I need to get her measurements to get the x back harness and I am not sure how I should go about measuring her every time I grab her she thinks I'm going to brush her so she will probably run away :p

Haha, maybe you could try holding some cheese (or bacon) in one hand right in front of her face while you use a drop down tape measure in the other hand? Hopefully she'll try eating the treat instead of being a wiggle monster/sitting down/running away. xD

So as late as this post is, today is Yukon's birthday! We didn't really do anything special but he did get bacon and other table scrap thingies that I'm sure he enjoyed. I might get him a new harness in coming weeks though. His real birthday present is the neuter appointment, shhh don't tell him I said that.

Anyways, getting a dog is perhaps on of the best things I've ever done. Despite all the low points I've had, there were an equal number of happy moments to combat them; and the wisdom of these lessons granted through the privilege of ownership will make me better as a person. So thank you Yukon for giving me the chance to better myself and helping to teach me about responsibility. Here's to a hopeful future where we will hopefully spend many more happy years together! #sappycornyspeechesftw

Oh yeah, I also caught a bad case of puppy fever when going through some of Yukon's old photos today. If I'm not careful then I could end up with a GSD puppy or another Husky puppy soon. Talk me off the cliff people, remind me that I have college to pay for! xD

Congratulations for owning raising such a cute dog so far, Aiden! Lol, it's definitely not easy, but there are definitely far more incredible moments with them that completely outweigh the bad ones.

I won't be talking you out of the puppy fever since I wouldn't mind seeing some more puppy pictures on here lol.
