| I did a quick search on this site for conversations about the dog and movie Hachiko, and the search had 0 results. I'm assuming that most of us have seen these movies (the Japanese and US versions) since we're all dog lovers, particularly of northern breeds (Hachiko was an Akita).
I haven't cried since probably the last time I got spanked as a kid, and that must've been 28+ years ago. I've been through some rough times with girlfriends breaking my heart, my Father dying (had to be strong for my Mom), etc. and none of that made me cry. Well, watching Hachiko did. I cried all afternoon, just thinking about how I'll feel when it's time for my 3 dogs to go.
If you don't know the story, and/or haven't seen these movies, I highly recommend them. I love my dogs so much, and only hope and wish that they would do the same for me that Hachiko did for his owner.
Reading the thread about Shiloh passing (Gone to the Snowdogs) got me thinking about my dogs dying, which brought me to remembering Hachiko.
Anyways, enjoy and discuss! Oh, and both Hachiko movies have been uploaded on youtube as the full movie in one clip, so you don't have to watch part 1 of whatever, etc. If you need the links, I can find them for you. |

| I have bawled every single time I've watched that move. I've never had to deal with death with a pet, or even a family member or a close friend so I can't even imagine what it will be like when someone, or one of my pack passes. It's a great movie, every time I watch it now I turn it off when I know I'll lose it lol |

| I only caught like 3-5 minutes of the end of it once and I was a mess. Marley and Me does it for me everytime too. |

With Marley and Me, I cry at the beginning and then for like the whole last 45 minutes of the movie. |

| Marley and Me never EVER fails to bring me to tears. I've only seen the American version of Hachiko but I was absolutely smitten, and there wasn't a dry eye around when me and my sister watched it. |

| Marley and Me and the Japanese version of Hachiko had me bawling. But then again I cry extremely easily. I cry for most most movies actually so I'm not a good person to go off of. I didn't care for the American version of Hachiko, I wish I hadn't seen it actually...nowhere near as good as the Japanese version. _________________ |

| I thought I posted the links to both versions, but I guess not. I saw a new thread pop up discussing this, and someone mentioned that they remember reading (possibly) this thread about Hachi but could no longer find it. Here's the links to the US and Japanese FULL MOVIE versions:
US: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1vuMhWvZUs
Japanese: OOPS! Looks like this version has been removed from Youtube due to copyright infringements. Maybe with the title, you can search elsewhere and find the full movie.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdCD65ZwzZI Hachiko Monogatari A Dog Story [EngSubs]
Enjoy! Try not to cry, but I think you'd be heartless (or without tear ducts) if you are a dog lover and could make it through either movie without shedding a tear. Haha! |

| Hehe.. yep that'd be me. Marley and me kills me as well. Seabusicut makes me cry, Spirit (the animated movie) makes me cry, 8 below for sure..pretty sure all animal movies I either cry or tear up. I am such a baby. I cry at those super happy times too. My heart just swells and then come the water works. |

| I've never seen this or 8 below.. plan for tomorrow I think.
Marley and me makes me cry but I've been known to cry at adverts so it doesn't take much |

| Hachiko was the first movie ever that made me fight with tears. Is the japanese version worth watching? All japanese movies I saw until now were bad as hell |

| I liked the movie Red Dog. I cry at all animal movies. I can't help it. When Dante's Peak first came out in theatres, the part where the dog is on the rock in the lava field, I jumped up in the middle of the theatre and started clapping when they saved the dog. LOL! Wow did I want to sink into the floor when I remembered where I was. |

| Well definitely stay away from Hachiko then, it is by far the biggest tear jerker I have ever watched. Speaking of the Japanese version, NOT the American version. _________________ |

| I do it too myself everytime. I finish the movie and say never again...I don't want to cry that much. Then I do it again cause they sucker me in. I see it and have to watch it and they turn me into a trainwreck. Oh well. |

| I will have to watch the Japanese version. I cried for about 3/4 of the movie. I just felt so bad for him in the shed, then you totally saw what was coming. Had a headache all day the next day after watching it from crying so much... It's good my hubby was at work lol. |

| I can watch movies that are meant to make you cry and at the worst my eyes get moist. Give me a sad dog movie, though, and I'm done for. |

| I saw Hachiko the other day and I was a mess. I never cried so much in my life, not even at my grandmother's funeral :S I kind of feel bad saying this but it's true. I cried almost the entire movie, even before all the drama. The next few days I was still sensitive about it and felt like crying too, I just remembered saying "what is wrong with me, seriously... Now I say "never again!" Because I'm ones of those people that gets stuck with these things in my head and I can't stop thinking about it.
P.S. After watching the movie I spent the rest of the day after my dog, like the world was going to end. He must have fel smothered, poor boy :S |
