| Despite having an evil teenager on my hands right now I plan on getting a second late fall/winter 2014, so long as Mishka is where I want him to be at that time. I've already contacted a couple of breeders about planned litters, but I haven't quite narrowed it down to who I want to go with. I'd rather someone I can feasibly visit, but I know breeders this far south are hard to come by. _________________ |

There was a difference between the two litters though, in the sense that the first was mostly females (she kept one) and the second was mostly males (again with her keeping a female) so once her selections were made, then she went back to people who had voiced particular preferences with pups.
She's new to the game, so I'm sure that her process may change a little down the road as she gets more experience.
I asked her in the beginning about temperament testing and what I was looking for in a pup, we talked about it back and forth for awhile. Honestly if my "first choice" look wise was not what she or I thought would do well, then I would choose another.
I get what your saying though. Time will tell with her next round of breeding, I think. I have nothing but a positive experience so far, so fingers crossed lol I guess deposit order wasn't the correct wording. It was AMB's post where he said he wanted Dash or a blk/wht male and that's what he got; Dash. What if Dash isn't the best pic for him when Dash turns 8 weeks? By the way, not trying to call you out AMB, that's just the example I am using!
I'm glad everything has been positive and I hope it continues to be that way!! Meh, no offense taken. I don't think anything is completely set in stone yet either though, she has let me know that there are others out there who are showing interest in Dash so I'm pretty sure that if his personality doesn't fit then I could probably switch if needed. I believe she also stated in the (signed) contract that "buyer agrees that the deposit holds any puppy in the litter and not one puppy in particular." So nothing is really set in stone yet at all and I'm sure she would let me know if Dash wasn't compatible with my own lifestyle/personality. I think she's more or less just taking down preferences at the moment, although it is definitely a valid concern and I apologize if my post gave you the wrong idea. xD Also good luck with getting another puppy two or so years down the road! ^_^ |

| I've always wondered in the racing line sibes have a higher need for exercise and more energy/intensity in their personalities. I'll be interested to see all the pups from Kennedy grow. |

I wonder that too Jen, I would like my next to be from a show kennel to see that difference as well. |

| We wanted a racing-line Sibe to begin with to fit our active lifestyle, so if they need more exercise, bring it on, because we'll certainly give it to them! Since we intend to run and mush our dogs, we will probably get only racing-line Sibes, though when we rescue it'll be tough to tell, but we're flexible and determined, so I think if we do get a young enough rescue we can make a racing dog out of them. And, Jen, I'm sure you will have plenty of opportunities to watch the Kennedy pups grow, as I'm sure we will be posting photos like mad once they come home! |

| Your first dog will love it, I guess you will love it, so if you can handel a second dog, why should it be weird? |

| It's not weird. When I got Bella I was already planning for a second one when she turned two years old. I began my breeder search and learning the standard and learning different lines and researching pedigrees to be sure of what I wanted (and didn't want).
I think there is (can be?) a pretty big misconception about the exercise thing.
Mechta's breeder has several Seppala line Siberians including a couple Seppala crosses and says they're some of her more "lazy" (laid back) dogs. The exception being when working - their drive to work is much different than their energy.
Speaking of the energy - realistically every dog requires exercise and the amount of exercise varies per dog by their personalities (some dogs are just generally more lazy and a walk around the block is fine while others 20 miles isn't enough - I [believe] it comes back to the drive). For example: A pet bred dog who gets little to no exercise and is bored is going to appear (to someone who doesn't know that they get zero exercise) as if it needs a ton of exercise and is crazy. A racing bred dog who has a nice outlet for his energy would appear calm. Same for a show bred dog. etc etc. The difference is the drive the dogs are bred for - not their "exercise" needs.
Both of my girls (one pet bred and one show/working cross) are actually fairly lazy around the house (they have good "off" switches). Take them out and they can run and burn energy for quite awhile. Jen (Dizzy's mom) can attest to this. _________________ |
