| I know, I know, obedience and Husky in the same sentence. I'm usually not surprised when I'm the only Husky entered. Browsed some threads here and it seems mostly conformation. Just wondering if I'm the only one crazy enough to enter the obed ring |

| Not me haha! I'd love to do Obedience with Yuki because she is very motivated, but Link will downright ignore me even if I have a treat if its not worth the effort. I can see him thinking 'hmm.. yes, she has a treat.. but do I want to sit? or.. yeah I'll just go over here instead'. |

| Ha I wish! This post was started the first night I took Orion to obedience - he was a nightmare Although to be honest he did improve fantastically and he shows a bit of promise for agility at least (other opinions not mine! I have my doubts!) I'll continue to work with him but I doubt he will ever be competitive level. I have seen a sibe in an obedience ring and she cleaned up the competition, amazing girl - but I also know she was destined for the obedience ring from the moment she was born and her owner worked incredibly hard with her from a very young age strictly for that purpose. There are a few Samoyed's in competitive obedience but a husky is a rarity :)I would love to see some video's of you and Quinn in the ring if you happen to have any! |

| I feel like I have to work 10 times harder than our peers (or competitors haha) to get half the score. But I also feel like our victories are sweeter because of it. I KNOW the judges see us coming and think, OMG, nightmare hahahaha. But so far we've been successful. She has her CD (188, 192 and 194.5) and this past weekend earned our first CDX leg, with a slop score of 174.5. But she did it!
My best advice to anyone that's thinking about trying obedience with their sibe is DO NOT let people psych you out. You CAN do it. It'll just take a lot of patience and a ton of work. So many people told me I wouldn't be able to be competitive, but guess what? We're out there, we're doing it and we're having a blast. I don't make allowances for her because of her breed. So it's not ok that she just flat out ignores me at times, although she tries to. She gets corrected but she also gets big reward when she does it. Many, many people told me I'd never get a husky to focus on me while we heel. Yet it's our best exercise, she prances, she looks at me the WHOLE time.
We also show agility, and she LOVES it. But she's a bit naughty and wild. So again, we have to work harder than the average bear but we're getting there. She gets out there and thinks its party time, so she's fast and goofy and maybe a tad unfocused lol. That's where the training of the handler comes in, so I'm working through my issues in to control hers.
I know everyone on this site is bonded with their dogs, but I cannot tell you how much training increases that bond. It's an amazing thing. And even though I have to work harder than my classmates, and showing performance events comes with huges amounts of failure, I wouldn't trade one second of it for anything. |

| Ahh I love agility. Yuki and I were originally going to do it, but after getting Link I've fallen in love with urban mushing/bikejoring. Apparently Link shows a lot of promise, and going off those opinions from what I've seen of Yuki she shows a lot of potential to, so thats the sport we'll be heading down. Same deal with it, lots of training the commands and Link and I have bonded tremendously since we started. Although if I have some extra time I may train Cloud in agility since he turned 18 months and I don't have to worry too much about the jumps anymore. |

| Bikejoring looks like so much fun! No matter what the sport, I think it's important for these guys to be worn out at the end of the day. Body and mind |

| I'd really like to learn more about agility and obedience. I checked out a facility last night for puppy classes that also offers both of these plus weight pulling and rally among others. The trainer didn't give any sort of clues that would let on she thought it wasn't do-able with a sibe (which I was waiting for). So we will just have to see how Caoimhe develops and progresses, but I definitely would like to start working with her early on to head down that path. |

| Cortnie, it's a blast - you'll love it! I'd shop around for trainers, if you have that opportunity. Some are sort of anti northern breeds. |
