| She's such a cutie. She has that sad husky face on, ha ha. She's probably thinking, "only 3 miles? boo." |

| Haha, very true! Her sweet spot is about four miles now. We've got to find longer trails to go on! |

As for eating everything in sight, the snow we've had this winter has been a blessing of sorts, because it deters Layla from eating all the pine cones, acorns, sticks, leaves, moss, etc. she finds. From what I hear, it gets a little better after a year or so, though I'm not holding out for much, haha. Welll...Ami is about 19 months old - and still eats just about anything he kind find on the ground. I'm constantly hauling stuff out of his mouth on walks. I trade the crap for kibble - it may be working, yesterday he picked up several things and gave them up readily - instead of me reaching halfway down his throat... |

I should try trading treats for nasty stuff. Layla will do anything for a treat! She's been finding and gulping banana peels lately. I have to ask myself who throws a banana peel on the sidewalk or even in the middle of a hiking trail?! There were TWO on the trail today and she got one off the sidewalk in our neighborhood on Monday. Worst story of things Layla has eaten on a walk also happened today: Some people ride horses on the trail we were on and it was clear one had been by recently, as there was some poop on the ground. Usually Layla just sniffs poop and goes on her way. Apparently there was something extra interesting in the horse poop because she picked up the largest piece of turd and gobbled it down. I wanted to get it out of her mouth but couldn't get my poop bag out fast enough and wasn't about to go in there with my bare hands! Ugh! |

| Haha, well, she's getting spayed on Monday so that won't be possible, but it is nice to imagine, haha. |

| Today marks Layla's 31st week of life -- and the day she got spayed! She did very well during the procedure and is now resting comfortably at home. She's still very sleepy from the sedative. As soon as she got home she went to her spot by the sliding glass door and looked out into the back yard. She had a little dinner, went potty and then plopped down to sleep. I'm so glad she did well! In the car on the way home after picking her up -- very groggy! The incision and stitches Passed out by the sliding door, right next to my desk where I do my work |

| Isn't it the best feeling when they curl up near you and just kinda bond with you, albeit, Huskyesque and indirectly?
Cheers to a swift recovery and healing Layla. |

Thanks, Ashleigh! She did has some diarrhea last night because of the anesthesia and she was super groggy but this morning she is alert and eating and drinking normally. I felt so bad for her putting the Elizabethan collar on her last night! I took it off this morning and so far she's been pretty good about leaving her stitches alone. - seattlesibe wrote:

Cheers to a swift recovery and healing Layla. Jeff, it was the strangest thing not having her home for most of the day yesterday. Her Huskyesque presence was definitely missed. Usually she's curled up in the same room as one of us but even just that kind of bonding feels so nice. - wpskier222 wrote:

Aw, thanks, Jen! Don't tell anyone but Diz is one of my favorites too ... along with Mishka and Link, of course! They do grow so fast. Hard to imagine she's already seven months old! I often look back at photos of when she was teeny-tiny and can't imagine the dog we have now is the same one! They may grow and change physically but their spirit stays the same. |

| Thanks, Dietra! I know it's a very routine procedure, but, to be honest, I was on pins and needles yesterday morning until I got the call around 1 p.m. that everything was OK! |

| Awww poor layla.I remember going through that about a month ago with Samoa.it is scary waiting for that vet phone call.. glad she came through fine.samoas fur is finally almost completely grown back from her spay. Good luck with recovery and keeping her from too much jumping and running lol that was terrible for Samoa trying to keep her calm so she wouldn't hurt herself.but puppies will be puppies |
