Yeah it was weird. I also got turned down by a rescue because I don't take my cats to the vet unless there is something wrong. They are indoor only and never go out, so I don't see the need to get them all upset to pump them with useless vaccines every year.

As far as I´m concerned a dog gives a damn if you live in a big house with a fenced yard or in the tiniest apartment, as long as he gets his exercise.

My "fenced" yard consists of a 4 ft tall roll of wire strung between steel posts. Most people wouldn't trust it to hold in a Beagle but Kenzi only tested it when we first got her and now she doesn't try to get out at all. She sleeps on the back porch nearly every night by herself despite the consensus being to never leave them alone. Even having a "fence" I know a rescue would never adopt to us. I agree with Dennis that exercise and attention makes the difference, not a fence. Lifestyle and dedication should be the top priority, not a fence.
