Is a Golden Retriever a nice playmate or partner for huskies ?
Just curious

Any dog can make a good playmate if raised right. Retrievers are nice because they have similar energy levels and wont get tired out quickly like a lap or purse dog might. Also they're pretty good at following commands from what I've read, so in a sense you can "balance out the bad" since Huskies are notorious for challenging leadership.

Although at the same time it also depends on the individual, Rylai might hate a Retriever's guts, but be perfectly fine with something like a Dalmatian (at least from what I've read...) so it might be best to get that checked out first. (although again I think it's safe to say that Huskies normally get along with any type of dog...)

Sophie loves playing with her golden friend.

I took my pup to class last night, and during the free play, she had a blast with a little golden pup! I could barely tear her away

Omg, that golden looks just like my moms! Brandy (my moms golden) and Kody play great together. She's just as energectic, but is submissive at the same time. She plays OK with Asia too, but when Asia starts gettting a little rough Brandy lays down and goes stiff...lol. Once Asia gets moving again she's back up and running.

Maya and Sophie play great with their golden's but i haven't tried Kay yet. xD

I know Labs are good playmates, so I would assume same applies to goldens.

My mom has a golden as well. She is 7 years old I think and Anna gets on her nerves after awhile because Anna doesn't know when to stop. She is extremely hyper compared to all the other huskies I have ever met. My sister's sibe puppy and my mom's golden get along better because Baylee, my sister's pup, is very calm for a husky. But Anna is a weird one. Hahah.

In my opinion they would probably get along better if the golden is a pup or is on the hyper side. Then they would probably get along well, Anna loved playing with a lab puppy that lived in our old apartment complex. But they were similar in age unlike with my mom's dog. But labs are, usually, extremely hyper where I think goldens are a little more calm. This is just from my experience, all my friend's own labs, since we live in the south it is pretty common. And my knowledge of goldens comes from my step dad, it is the only dog he will ever have. If I had to chose between the two for my husky I would go with a lab.

My daughter had a Golden and at the time we had our husky mix (Alley) and they played non stop when we would dog sit. But, they would mouth on each other so bad they would be soaking wet with dog drool and then the house would start to stink! Good and tired when bed time came too!

I think it depends on the golden. My husky growing up sounds like Anna, just a non-stop turbo dog. We also had two goldens at different times. The first one, Rusty, was about 8 or 9 when we got Tasha. They adored each other but he wouldn't really play much with her, although I can say for sure he loved her to death. He put up with anything from her, even snatching his bone, and he was dog aggressive and had food guarding issues. He almost killed the neighbors scottish terrier once. Generally, he was kind of noble and stoic for a golden, not your typical goofy drooly mess. Our second golden, Miles (4 years younger than Tasha) played with her a bit, but got tired quickly. Overall her intensity level was too high for goldens. She just turned 16, and he is 12 and until the beginning of this summer, she would still try to play with him. Since he can be loose and she has to be on a tie out (even at this age!), he would just run away outside her range and ignore her.

For Dizzy, he has been attacked by at least 3 goldens, and not just your typical adult to puppy correction. I had to grab one by the scruff and pull it off of him at the dog park a couple weeks ago, and when I thought he was done and I let him go, he tried to go after Dizzy again. I'm not saying I think that goldens are an aggressive breed, but I do think that you need to consider a more active breed. Personally, I think goldens do have a much different energy level than huskies. They don't have the same high drive, and although they can be high energy, the need to burn it off is not the same as a husky. Even when they were in their prime, a 30 min walk a day would satisfy both of our goldens, and Rusty was from working stock. If you miss a walk a couple days in a row, you won't have a nutty dog on your hands like you do with a husky. They might be a bit more demanding, but not psycho.

Also, I've heard several people suggest that getting a golden/lab type dog was make their husky more obedient. As in, if they are together, and you call the golden back, the husky will follow suite. This was totally not true for us! Tasha was an instigator and if they got loose, she would frequently lead both dogs on neighborhood adventures. I'd call them back and the golden would start to come and notice that Tasha was running the other direction, and realize he could decide if he wanted to come back or not. She was such a bad influence! Damn huskies.

I'd say if you want a sporting type dog, a high energy lab would be a better partner for a husky than a golden. Dizzy has a good buddy that is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. They look similar to goldens but are a bit smaller, but have a much higher drive, or at least a sharper edge to the drive and can keep up with huskies.

All that said, there are, of course, differences among individuals, just make sure to introduce them before hand and try and pick a golden that will mesh well with your husky. I don't think they are like oil and water, but I do think there might be better options for husky companions.

Hmm it depends, is Rylai Spayed? If not then she might show aggression towards other females. Although in the end I don't think gender matters too much with Huskies as it might with other breeds.

It really depends on your female. We will be getting a second female, I am not a big fan of male dogs. But Anna is very submissive, she always has been. She does not have a dominant personality. When she meets a new dog she usually immediately lays on her back, not always but most of the time. My sister has a female husky, Baylee, as well and they were fine before Baylee was spayed and they are fine after she was spayed. My mom's golden is a female as well. They all do fine. It really depends on the dog.

Is a Belgian breed a nice match for my sibe ?

My sister-inlaw has a 5 month old golden and him and Jasper have always played well, but as soon as something doesn't go the golden's way he gets snarly and snaps at Jasper. We also go to a dog park where there are alot of goldens and the biggest issue I've noticed is that the golden's tire much easier than the huskies; which results in angry golden's and huskies who won't give up trying to play hah.

Malinois are VERY high energy (not hyper energy). Much more driven than our Siberians as well. You have to be very careful where you get a Mali puppy from. Some breeders breed for VERY work driven pups, and the work they do compared to what Sibes do are very, very different. Malis are used for schutzhund, SAR, Police Work.. Of course, there are plenty of Malis who make wonderful family pets. BUT, that is why you have to be diligent from what type of breeder you are going to and what lines they have.
