Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.

What options are there when surgery is out of reach. Empty

For some time now my 1-1/2 year old male husky has been limping and its been getting worse. After numerous visits to the vet and them having no clue what's wrong with him, telling us he is fine and xrays showed he has "perfect joints and bone structure" I couldn't take it anymore and found an orthopedic specialist. The specialist kept him overnight and the next day when we went to pick him up we were told he has loose rear hips and that hip issues while not giving him issue thus far is only a matter of time, and more pressing is he has fragmented corodian process in both elbows. The surgery cost is almost $4,000 per elbow, and there is no way we can afford to do the surgery and with other life issues, doing the $8,000 surgery is out of the question. Are there any groups out there that can help or am I just forced to watch him suffer until I win the lottery?

Have you looked into Care Credit at all? It's something we've looked into some with the possibility of neurosurgery for Shadow, and may well help in your situation. Good luck.

I am sorry to hear this Sad. There is one thing you can look into, get on a pet insurance plan and see if that lowers the amount into a more reasonable budget for you, and I would be calling every person I can get my hands on a number to see what the estimate is for that surgery, to see if you can get a lower price. I am sorry you have to go through this, it is really hard to see them go through things like this. Good luck.

I have applied for care credit, but with everything else, they didn't approve me for enough, and another monthly payment in the hundreds of dollars is out.

Pet insurance would/could have covered it, but since this is now a preexisting condition, it technically can not be covered.....not sure how they would know, but don't want to get caught/stuck in that mess either.

Yeah, Care Credit only covers me for about $2500; which for me is still amazing, but doesn't really help in your situation lol...
