So I have officially started really applying to some jobs in the areas of Highlands Ranch, Boulder, and just the left side of Denver (sorry, my directions aren't to great). My boyfriend doesn't really want to move until December (wait for our bonus's at work) but we both aren't the happiest at our jobs so I have thought whats the harm in applying with some companies that I'm interested to see if anything happens. So that brings me to my only real problem, is finding rentals that will allow us to have the two huskies. I know there are some threads on this already, but I thought I would see where some of you work with the rescue's and know the area that you could be of better assistance then me going on a wild goose chase, which I will do if it comes down to that . I've asked a couple of places and of course no apartment complexes will allow us which is fine because I don't think I would want an apartment again but would maybe be looking more of a townhouse to a single family home so they can have some space. I know it will all depend on my budget, when we actually move and where I end up but I didn't know if anyone knew of places or landlords in those areas that allow huskies that could narrow down my search.

i don't know since i never had to look for places with huskies as we got them once we had our house. you can try craigs list or join the husky huddle malamute mingle colorado on FB and see if you can get any answers there. i would look for rentals by owners over places with companies running them. i would not really look till you nail down the job as your commute could be really bad.

Thanks! Yes, I don't think I could ever do a crazy commute, so I have been looking on Craiglist and comparing the address of the places that I applied. I don't know if its cause I have been looking in the wrong places, but it seems like Colorado is really all about the dangerous breeds list, which I kind of knew but didn't think it would be this bad. I see all over that yes we allow large dogs (which to them is over 50lbs), and then I ask if huskies are okay, and they immediately shut you down. I know, I'm getting a head of myself for sure, but I just cannot wait to get there and be in hopefully a job that I would enjoy and be able to do more with the dogs!

When I first graduated from college we thought about moving to colorado for work and even applied to some jobs. When we were looking at the rental market it was a disaster mostly budget wise. There were places that would allow dogs but houses with space were really expensive. It may not be so bad for you since your budget maybe more than what ours was but every house we looked at that fit our needs was $1500 a month or more. A lot falls down to how big of a house you want versus how much yard or if you want/need a garage was what I noticed. I don't think the dogs will really be your biggest difficulty there.

We are prepared to spend some money for the rental, so we have been saving like crazy to help (for over a year now), because we found the same thing when we did our search. If it was just me, I would be more worried about the money, but with my boyfriends help splitting things in half will make a huge difference for us. I've always thought that I don't care what the house looks like, if we could just have some sort of a yard for the dogs, but I'm also very used to having to take them out on the leash so that isn't a necessity for right now either. Thats why I thought a town-home would be perfect if possible, most of them are reasonable and have small yards but none will allow huskies that I've come across in the areas.

A friend of mine lives in an apartment complex and she has a husky...she only has one, but I'm pretty sure they allow up to TWO pets. And if she has a husky, I don't see why they wouldn't allow two. She lives in Westminster, which is north Denver about 20-30 minutes, off Hwy36. I can find out what the complex name is when you get closer to moving.

I also have a friend that is a leasing agent for properties for rent by owner. This could anything from a condo to a big house. This means that your chances of finding a condo/townhome/small house that would allow huskies would be better since it would be mostly up to the owner and their insurance company. I can put you in touch with her also when you get closer to moving.

Yeah that would be awesome! I was thinking of going through someone like that just to make everything easier, but did not know of anyone. So I will get in contact with you hopefully sooner rather than later. I just want to get as much lined up as possible as I can't imagine living in a hotel with these two for long when we were to get there if at all. Now I just need to hope that people get back in touch with me on jobs as I'm getting very antsy and need to do something that I actually like!
