2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Just a little about me! Empty
PostSubject: Just a little about me!   Just a little about me! EmptyWed Aug 21, 2013 5:54 pm

I've posted around the forums quite a bit, and just noticed I haven't properly introduced myself!

My name is Tyler, I'm a stay at home mom with a wonderful 14 month old son! Me and my boyfriend live in a decently sized apartment in Missouri. We have a pain in the butt cat named Russ, and we just recently added Kuma to our family!

I do at-home babysitting, watching my 2 year old sister and another 16 month old girl, and my boyfriend works at a steel-mill. We both love playing video games. Lately I've been playing lots of Borderlands 2, LoL, and some browser games. I also play some Vindictus, Minecraft, Pokemon, and a couple others. I'm a home-body, I don't go out much and am perfectly content to stay at home and chill. I'm an awkward social person and I have trouble trying to explain what I'm trying to say, and often repeat myself, sorry ahead of time! My thoughts are also very scattered, I skip back and forth from paragraph to paragraph as I think of new things to add, which may be why they are difficult to read/don't make sense sometimes.

How we came to be husky people!
When we went to the shelter to look at dogs we instantly fell in love with Kuma because he was such a gorgeous dog! He came in as a stray the day before, and they hold them for 5 days to give the owners a chance to come claim them. We instantly put an early bird hold on him, so if the owner didn't come we'd be first in line to come pick him up. I'm not going to lie, I knew very little about Huskies when we put a hold on him, aside from the fact that they were energetic. The next 4 days my boyfriend and I spent hours researching everything about huskies. We were a little hesitant to get him because we weren't sure if he'd do well in an apartment or not. I think he may be the laziest husky there is! When we play, he goes about 5 minutes before he decides he's done and proceeds to nom on his toys. Needless to say, he seems quite happy here!

We will have had him a week tomorrow, and he's already warmed up quite nicely. He constantly follows me around the house and just watches me do things. He jumps up in bed with us and sleeps at our feet, and is doing quite well in potty training. We've taught him how to sit, but he still doesn't know his name, or he refuses to acknowledge it. And he's always super excited to see us when we get back from going somewhere.

I'm having a very difficult time not searching for more huskies to add to my family. Kuma is such a wonderful dog, I can't wait til we can add another one! Before we got Kuma I was searching for a Bull Terrier (You know, the Target dog!) Sadly they are very hard to come by, and people usually want an arm and a leg for them. We were also looking for a German Shepherd, Akita, Rottie, Malamute and were interested in a Husky. We originally wanted some sort of guard dog since I'm home alone most of the day with 3 young children, but how could you not love that big ball of fur?! Plus he turned out to be a deterrent anyway. We were out walking him and he was just trotting along side us, and some moms that were standing outside with their kids, waiting for the bus, started pulling their kids away from him. They acted like he was some vicious dog, which couldn't be further from the truth! I guess people don't wanna mess with a dog that looks similar to a wolf!

I guess I'll stop here, since this got a little longer than intended.

You all seem like wonderful people, and are very helpful. I hope to get to know you!
