Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! | I had a friend tell me about a dog in need, so I went to check him out and ended up bringing him home. He is a 4 year old English pointer and an excellent dog! The people have a bird dog kennel and when we went to see him the said that his bloodlines are worth thousands but he is worth nothing to them, they continued to tell us that he would never make a house pet or be a valuable member of the canine community. They kept him out in a kennel year round that was much too small for him, he is skin and bones, partially deaf and had worms really bad. They at least got him neutered last Friday. He was never let into their house, and they thought it was a crazy idea to even try him in a house, saying that he is too much dog to be inside and he will destroy it. Well we brought him home and he is the biggest sweetheart, which we could tell upon meeting him. He is completely housetrained, and hasn't destroyed anything. He knows his boundaries, manners and well we are just enjoying him very much! He is great with other dogs of all sizes, ages and sex, loves children and all people. He is just one happy go lucky boy. And he is not hyper, he doesn't even jump on anyone, he greets very nicely. I walk him twice a day with a Halti because his only real issue is pulling and that is working great for him! His partial deafness hasn't been much of an problem with us. He is just an excellent dog and we know our little Calypso and him are going to be great siblings! |

| We have numerous hunting kennels and clubs in my area and I have heard this story way to often. Although I will admit most of the 'rejects' do find homes with relatives or do end up living as a house dog, its sad. My husband wanted a pointer before we started researching hunting breeds, now its GWP or Griffon. |
