2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Hello :)my boyfriend recently just got me a siberian husky puppy two days ago from petland and after doing research I'm worried. He said petland told him their puppies come from good breeders, but I googled the breeders name that was on his akc papers (steven kruse)and I'm finding out he runs a puppy mill and that's where petlands puppies come from!complaints about him selling sick puppies and it worries me to death although he seems healthy. Also I have never owned this breed before, and my boyfriend had no idea about the breed either and after us researching it seems were In for it!!! I really need advice seeing as I live in hot florida..will he be unhappy in the heat? Can I exercise him like a normal puppy? What training and safety tips should I follow? Hes ten weeks old and teething aswell. Also, he never seems to wag his tail even when excited

Also I forgot to add he's having food aggression Sad like if I put my hand I'm his food bowl he will growl and give me a warning nip, I called a trainer and he said its easy to correct but what can I do at home until I get him in the training?

My boyfriend wasn't thinking (22 year old trying to suprise his girlfriend. But we are willing and ready to learn . I will not be one of those people who throws their dog in the shelter because they didn't know how to control it.

Please read through my older posts, I have recently replied to that in regards to food aggression. Unfortunately with the complete lack tof socialization and training by the "breeders" and Petland this is a recurring and common issue with pet store puppies. Rodeo (my red) is originally from Petland but was picked up by animal control and I adopted him. He has his moments- but is otherwise mostly healthy and well mannered Smile setting up for success is key!

Welcome!

I got a dog from pet store 12 years ago and for the most part he has been healthy (healthier then my heinz 57 mix by far). A mistake made, lesson learned. Any dog can get sick and you should be committed to dealing with issues if they arise whether good or bad breeding involved.

If you are worried about health issues and cost, you could get pet insurance. I have a lot of pets and after adding up vet bills for 8 pets over 12+ years I opted against it. However, it seems to make more sense in my mind with just one pet. And take him to vet asap for first check up.

What dog experience do you have now? What kinds of dogs have you owned in past. I only had 3 before my husky mix, but my fiance grew up with lots of dogs mainly chows. I think knowing stubborn breeds helps as he is better at it then me.

Even though we have dog experience, loki is in school and will continue to be to keep us on task with his training. The less dog experience you have, the more important training becomes for you to learn as some dog handling skills are not second nature.

Loki's tail does not wag much either and he is healthy. Even really happy his goes back and forth slowly a few times. I noticed this too and my vet said it was fine (my other dogs tails ate almost non stop at times).
