| Solo is 6 months old, and very quiet compared to most huskies I've met. He whines and barks but almost never let's out the signature husky sounds. I'm curious if its something he'll grow into or if I just have a shy pup. |

| Mine is 1yr 6months, I've heard her bark/howl maybe 5 times. One time she was guarding a friends balcony with my friends malamute, both barked/howled at people passing by. That was rare. She never makes a sound otherwise. I think having more than one dog who is vocal increases the chances. |

| Mya wasn't vocal at all until she started going to a doggie daycare and played with another husky who has taught her how to howl. Now she only howls when she's excited, like meal time and when people visit. She's almost 7 months old now. She's also a good watch dog which I didn't expect from a husky. When people are around that she doesn't know, she barks and whenever people knock at the door and come into my apartment. She's even barked at my boyfriend (who she's been around since I got her) when she doesn't know whether it's him or not. |

| When my fiance is not home I will try to get lexi my shepherd mix to howl. She will after little coaxing. Loki sits there looking at us like we are nuts. He will bark at my other dogs sometimes and whines when left or needs to go potty. Otherwise he is pretty quiet at just over 5 months. |

| Chess is just over a year and he doesn't let out the typical sounds (like Mishka when she says I love you) but he does bark a lot and he howls. He does talk to me in the sense that he will bark at me for a while. Usually i take that as him saying that he's not happy with something that I've done (like when he got boarded). Otherwise I don't encounter much of the other vocal sounds either. |

| I've noticed the only object that Mya will howl at is the hair dryer. Mainly because I think that she thinks it's attacking my head so she's trying to warn me lol. |

| Luci has always been a barker.. lots and lots of incessant barking to the point where she seriously reminds me of a yappy little dog. BUT, within the past month or so she has been adding some husky talk to it. She did her first proper deep howl two days ago when my daughter was playing a harmonica. She is 9 months old. |

Yep it all began with a harmonica for mine too! The smoke alarm makes her howl like crazy too. She's an avid woo-wooer if she gets told no or scolded for anything. Funny, once they learn the backtalk it's tough to get them to stop. Careful what you wish for |

| Chess lets me know whats on his mind all of the time. It's funny until he decides that he wants to wait until I'm in the bath tub to get on to me for boarding him for the weekend. |

| Mine start talking when they are in trouble or really excited. Other than that, they are pretty quiet. |

| Kenzi kinda grunts when she's scratching her back. She will yip if she sees a Beagle or Beagle mix, but not at any other breed. She's never howled even though we've tried a lot of different things with her. _________________ |

| Gus howls when we leave him alone, and talks to welcome us back. Otherwise, he is usually very quiet at home unless it's mealtime. I taught him the "speak" command, and now he thinks if he just keeps talking, he'll get his treat. If we howl, he'll sort of bark-howl too, which we think is really cute... until he starts pouncing on you 'cause he has no idea what's going on! |

| Depends on the dog really. I have seen really vocal huskies and some quiet ones. Pongo used to be much quieter when he was younger. We taught him to say "I love you" and he's really only vocal in the morning or if my husband hugs me. |

| Sky has been vocal since birth! She yawns, stretches, lies down and gets back up with a moan. If I tell her off the sofa she back chats and grumbles. She howls if she is excited or wants my attention
Phoenix isn't much of a talker he has a high pitch whine (girly screaming) when he can't get to me or if we've left him in the house while we've been out. The last 2 weeks her has had a couple howls but they're really low and husky (sore throat husky) sounding and he is 5 months old |

| Rogue doesn't howl or woo and silly me - I keep trying to teach him. He is amused at the sounds I make and has that "What is my crazy human doing NOW" look when I try to get him to do it. He DOES however backtalk when he is in trouble. I get in a lot of trouble myself because I can't stop laughing and he usually does it when it's my husband reprimanding him!
However - last weekend we had to drop him off at the vet for his last "puppy" appointment, and when we went to pick him up the tech there told me he has the cutest howls and woos and she loves the way he talks. I looked at her like she must be crazy and she laughed and said it was "Husky and Lab" day at the vet. They had 3 other huskies and 3 labs in and she said they were all "talking" amongst themselves, and when one would go in with the vet they would break into a chorus of howls and woos! I almost laughed until I cried and wish I could have watched! I am now even more convinced I need another husky around! (Yes, I am still waiting until Rogue is a little older and trained a little more - I was warned that he could pass some of his less desirable habits on to a new pup!) He is a moaner when he is sleeping and moving around at night - again something I love! |

| Anya barely woos anymore. Lately she has been barking at certain men or children. Its not a cute sassy bark, it's a full on manly-hackles up-bark. I hope it's just a phase! She's is very well socialized so this is surprising... |

| Just thought I would revive an old thread.
From my recent experience with Link he started talking this month, month 15. He has always situationally talked at greetings or excitement or with me playing my harmonica, but he started talking--in the Youtube worthy sense--this month.
The other day we took him into my work where he hadn't been in a while and he saw my coworkers, who he loves of course, and he told them a story that lasted almost 7 minutes. There were very dramatic intonations and deep, throaty woos and aaaawwwwhhhoooos. My coworker began talking back and Link even played the imitation game, with high pitch chirps and aaaaahhhhhhhhhs followed by more throaty wooing.
He got him to woo "I don't want to" and "ready to go." It was great.
Then, yesterday at the pet store he did the same thing with a staff member that lasted almost 4 minutes.
So I guess he is now a talker. 15 months old. And I love it. Definitely one of my favorite Husky things. |
