Hi, new member. I have a male husky about a year and 5 months. I have had him since he was 3 months old. He's pretty good on a leash when I take him for walks around my block, he likes to be out in front but doesn't really pull unless he really has to go. But he sure loves to pull (more like try to run) when we first get out of the house for a walk, but usually telling him to sit once or twice calms him down (or when he takes his first pee). But when I take him down to the dog park, there's nothing that will stop the pulling. I've tried treats, tried telling him to sit when he pulls and there's just no getting to him. He usually tries ignoring the sit til i tug back then he sits but once he knows he can start walking again he just tries to take off. I know hes excited but does anyone have any advice?

I have a harness for Mya and it helped so much! But I also had a trainer who told me that when they start to pull, to pull back on the leash and call them then start walking backwards and reeling in your leash at the same time until the dog gets to you, then get them to sit and begin walking again. I did this a lot with Mya and it did help even if it is a pain in the butt to do so many times. The trainer said it teaches them to want to be near you and not pull you all over the place, that you're the one in control and that if they're not paying attention then you could decide to turn right and they won't even know until you tug on them. You could try a head collar for pulling... I've heard of a lot of people having success with them!
