2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Hi Everyone!

I had written another post but can't find it now! Anyways, my boyfriend and I will be proud new parents of a Siberian Husky/Mix (with I'm not sure what) as of next Thursday and I'm looking for advise and tips. I am an excited and anxious mess!
I volunteer at the SPCA dog walking and absolutely fell in love with her (Stella is her name now but will be changed to Eden as we dog sit for another Stella).
They guess her age is just over a year, she's tiny for a husky and looks to maybe have shepherd in her. We are both new to the breed but have lots of experience with dogs. Any tips and suggestions would be much appreciated.
Her new home is just "temporary" as we are in the house buying process at the moment (I know, not the best time to be buying a dog, but I just couldn't let her go).
We are setting up a medium sized kennel area for her with 6 1/2 foot fences, a dog house, water bowl, shade and possibly a puppy pool as she loves the one at the shelter right now on hot days. She will be in the kennel on the days we work, but we are living at my parents house right now and they, along with close friends have volunteered their time to take her out whenever possible so she is never is there for more than a few hours.
All our off time will spent all together Smile And at night she will come in and sleep on a doggie bed next to us.
We both enjoy running so she will get a jog both morning and evening, unless it is too hot. We also have a dog park close by where she can run and socialize.
We are planning on buying a crate as well, as I've read on here and other forums that they are a must.
We spend most of our weekends on the boat. Any tips/suggestions/experiences with huskies on the boat or in the water?
We also spend our winters snowshoeing and snowmobiling which I think she will fit nicely into Smile
Once again, any tips/suggestions for us would be greatly appreciated as we want her to have a safe and happy home!

Sounds like you will be able to give her a lot of exercise and fun!
What part of Ontario are you from? We have a few Toronto members, we're in Quebec but pretty close to the Ontario border.

We are two hours north of Toronto in a small town on Georgian Bay. And I hope so, I'm a little nervous, but I think (hope) everything will work out great!

Welcome!

It definitely sounds like she'll get plenty of exercise. Still working on getting Harry used to swimming so cant be much help on advice there. He's not much a fan of water but I'm hoping his new life vest will help him out a bit. And you can go wrong snowshoeing with a Husky!
