| Hi there! My name is Lauren and I live in the Seattle area. I do not actually own a Husky, but instead a Shiba Inu! He's a little over a year old, black & tan, and outgoing but stubborn as you can imagine. ;-) The reason as to why I joined this forum was to collect and absorb information about the breed in general. I've been looking into a second addition to my home, and seeing as how marvelous and splendid he gets along with Huskies, I've been researching more into them as a whole. I'd love to hear from people who own two dogs, especially if they're different breeds -- if not, that's totally fine, but I'm still curious! Here are some photos of him because who doesn't love 'em?

| What a cute shiba-kins! What's his name? He's adorable! and yes I do tend to find a lot of shiba x husky owners, moreso than I thought I would. As for owning two breeds, I own an American Eskimo (22 pounds) and two sibes. Although sibes have won my heart as a breed, Cloud's my first dog and my special little guy. His personality is so feisty too, you can forgive him for anything! I think you'd be fine with shiba x husky, as they tend to have very similar energy levels and both love to do zoomies, I just know personally Cloud can't keep up with my sibes, especially Link. He gets grouchy when they try to play with him with their endless energy. But like I said, I'm sure your shiba has tons of energy and would probably be fine with another high-energy play friend. Can't wait to see more pictures of the lil guy! and Welcome! |

| Welcome! I'm from the eastside. My coworker has a black and tan 1 year old too- it's my favorite coloring. I actually ran into him the other day at the park, his little guy and my sibe clicked immediately, it was so cute. Anyways, your little man is quite the looker There's tons to read here, and feel free to jump in on our Seattle huskies thread, you're more than welcome to come join us on some adventures! |

| Beautiful dog! I just got a husky mix and I have a lab and shepherd mix. I don't know shiba Inu's too well, but it does sound like they have a lot of similarities to huskies. Loki seems to love having the other dogs around, but they are much older. I think at this point, that is my biggest issue is age differences as lab/shepherd mixes are higher energy too, but difference between puppy and senior energy is big. Also, I noticed he likes to sit and lay on them. From pictures, it seems that may be more of a husky thing. They are dealing with it and he is learning how much he can lay next to or on them. Assuming this is the husky in Loki, he seems to be in love with other dogs. |

| Welcome! I love the color of your Shiba. My parents have a shiba inu as well. She is such a character. Sasha, Shaqua and Jake. Sasha is the shiba: One of my good friends that lives in NOLA also owns a Shiba. Shaqua and her get along splendidly. Shaqua & Miya: I wonder if it is because they are both spitz breeds that siberians and shiba get along well? They do have similar mannerisms in character (or so I've noticed) |

| Welcome! Your Shiba is very pretty, I love the coloring. Our husky pup is 15 weeks and there is a family in our complex who got a Shiba Inu puppy at the same time, so they met at a very young age. Like you said in your post, they clicked instantly and love to roll around and play. Kai (our husky) is obviously growing much faster than Ake (the Shiba Inu), but they still play very well together. I would suspect the two breeds would get along pretty well together in the same household. |

His name is Sagan! I named him after the astrophysicist Carl Sagan. If I were to obtain a second dog, her name would also be science-themed. ;-) Thank you all for the wonderful comments! As far as the Seattle Huskies group goes, I'd love to check that out. I technically live in Kirkland, but I say Seattle area for those who don't live in Washington, haha. Every Husky I've come across in dog parks, friend circles, or out in public, he's clicked almost immediately. I've never had a bad experience as far as interaction goes with him. I would say that he's not entirely high-energy, though, which is a difference in the breed. He's more cat-like inside the house (enjoys his own space, naps a lot, not too affectionate) but once he's outside, totally raring to go and do anything. Personality wise, I'm more than certain there are similarities: stubborn, independent, but loyal as hell, and quite intelligent. |

I once had a cat named Schrodinger Welcome, by the way. Sagan is absolutely gorgeous, and it's neat to see a Shiba on here. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Welcome! I too tell everyone im from Seattle...especially after i get blank stares when i say the Everett area.
If the shiba inu is decently energetic (all the ones ive seen are) and like rough play, there shouldnt be any problems. We have a aussie shepard/border collie mix who's a little older and crotchety as heck. She rarely plays with the harry the husky on her terms but is very very well tempered personality to cope with a husky pup. So far so good, but we'll see how 1-2 years old does. |

They definitely adapt to your lifestyle, whether it's active or sedentary. Obviously all dogs need exercise, but they can mold into how you go about things. And yes... Sagan is a Grade A Rough Player. It's gotten him into a lot of trouble as people can't differentiate between "fighting" and "rough play" it seems. :-\ I've actually had a woman at a dog park a few months back who'd literally grab her Husky's collar and made her sit because it kept nipping Sagan's neck (playfully, of course). I told her it's totally fine and my dog loves it, but her response was, "I don't want to think my Husky is dominant, and I don't like how she plays like that." Resisted the urge to argue and ended up just sighing and walking away... So yes, Sagan absolutely loves dogs who rough-house right back with him! |

| Yay! Sagan will have a blast. Jason was telling me about how much Sagan and Korra got along. ♥
I hate to be that person, but when looking at the SHCA, I do come across a list of breeders, but none of them list a website. Is there anyone within the WA or OR area that wouldn't mind referring me to their breeder, or even a rescue? I enjoy looking at a breeder's website and seeing their images, what they have to say, additional information, etc, even if it may be outdated and look very 90s-esque, lol. I'm also particularly fond of the sable and agouti coloring, but it seems both of those coats are less common than the standard, it seems. Would anyone also happen to know a breeder who specializes in either, or not really? |

| They really did! It was awesome. I don't think you're going to find a breeder that specializes in those colorings that's reputable and not a BYB, I know there are none around here- I've looked lol. I love those colorings too. For breeders I'd check out this recent thread: https://www.itsahuskything.com/t10726-seattle-area-breeder-recommendations?I got my girl from a breeder in NE Oregon, they did have 2 sable girls recently, half sisters to miss Korra, but they were a surprise and it was the bitch's last breeding so who knows if they'll have more. I can PM you in more detail or just tell Jason lol. But for breeders I would go look at the kennels on that thread. I haven't worked with any of they rescues around this area, so whatever you've probably pulled up on google is what I know about them too.. |
